Help! Dentist and I are Stomped!!!?

Ok... Long story short, I went to DDS last week to see what the heck is going on in my mouth. It is strange you see. I have 8 small cavities and 5 previous root canals. All root canals are fine, and doing well. I am scheduled over the next 3 mths to fill all of the cavities. However, I have had the strangest discomfort over the last 8 mths that comes and goes. It feels as if my left side of my face, jaw area in particular and sinuses, like they are pressurized. DDS says that my cavities are not that deep and could not cause that pain. However 2 of my teeth are sensitive to tap as well, but xray and DDS says they are ok. She is also a licensed endodontist. Other than the pressure, I have no other tooth pain. My top wisdoms are in streight. Bottoms partial but streight. We are stomped. Is it TMJ? Is it wisdoms? Is it sinuses? Oddly, it comes and goes. Could it be hormones? I hate this and I am sick of it. Any professional help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

this may be a case of trigeminal neuralgia if all is well with the teeth/sinuses
Reply:Congested sinuses would give these symptoms, fullness and sensitive to tapping. A number of things could cause the congestion. (1) a chronic sinus infection, (2) an allergic reaction to any number of things, (3) a cystic or tumorous growth. It is most likely, an allergic reaction. In the Head-Neck area there are branches of the same nerve innervating the upper and lower jaw referring pain making it difficult to determine its origin. The Doctor of choice would be an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) specialist, one that treats allergies. Or you could buy a over the counter decongestant and take as directed 3-4 days and see if you get relief.
Reply:I have had a similar problem since mid 2007. This week my new dentist thinks I may have a problem with salivary gland. I am supposed to stimulate the glands with sour food and sour candy until pressure clears blockage. The feeling of pressure on one side is driving me crazy and have had significant amount of decay (small also) fairly quickly. Even had a root canal and CT scan of sinus (normal results). Still have problems. Good Luck.
