I have been diagnosed with hernaited disc, a disc with a tear and dds, should I have a spinal fusion?

I have been to chiropractors for years, PT on my own and I had a epidural shot that didn't work. Medication only helps sometimes. I am undecided if I should still go to pain management for them to "try" and help with the pain or just go for the fusion. My neurosurgeon said that I need to get one done. Help please!!!

I have been diagnosed with hernaited disc, a disc with a tear and dds, should I have a spinal fusion?
I had a L3/L4 injury so I can identify with the pain. I was offered surgery and , while the doctors recommended it, I went and talked with people that had taken that route.

Not to many of them were happy with the results.

Now that is just the people *I" talked too. While my disk was herniated, it was intact.

Bottom line is that YOUR injury is different from many others.. and my answer is no better then anyone else's. BUT.. talk to people that have been there and done both ways.. THEN decide.

(BTW) I passed on surgery.. that was 10+ years ago and after 1 year+ of hard work I was pain free and 90% mobility,

(and I have a great set of MRI's hanging in my office).

good luck... whichever course you choose.

.
Reply:Be very careful with the chiropractors if you already know you have a spine injury.

I have a cervical spine injury from an auto accident. I was treated by a chiropractor for about a year and kept getting worse. To make a long story short I ended up having 2 spine fusion operations and permanent nerve damage partly due to the 'adjustments' by the chiropractor. When it gets to the point that you know you have a spine injury you need to get to an Orthopedic surgeon ASAP or you may risk nerve damage like I have.

That was several years ago and I am still in a pain management program for chronic pain. If I would have had the surgery in a timely fashion and had not been injured by the 'adjustments' I might not be disabled today.

I guess there are chiropractors that do people a lot of good,,,but the bad ones can hurt you,,permanently.

Here are a few links that I use often that may be of some help to you.

Good luck. As you can see, you are going to get different answers that are all true. That's why I stick with the information from the medical professionals on the links I gave you above. Your health is too important to trust to just anyone with a computer and access to Yahoo.
Reply:Love it, your Neurosurgeon stated you needed one done and left the decision up to you? So if the Orthopedic Surgeon refuses to give you fusion, what happens next? If the Pain Management refuses, what happens then? Usually the Neurosurgeon 'tells' you based on his/her experience, let alone results x-ray, mri, nct, what you should try next. I have never been given a choice, was told no way I will ever have surgery unless it is a life and death situation. Best of Luck
Reply:I'm going to answer this from a PT standpoint from what I see after the surgery. Some people have great results, up and at it day after surgery but there are others who have a difficult time coping with the pain from the surgery and some may even have lingering pain after the surgery. I think you should be aware that the fusion may not get rid of your pain right away.

Who earns more money ? A general dentist or an orthodontist and DDM and DDS?

I think it would depend on the amount of patients a dentist has and also what type of dentistry they do.

At our office, "Dr. Joe" does everything from check ups to full mouth reconstruction. We do not refer out, unless a patient is medically compromised. So we do not lose out on money that other dentist do when they refer to specialist.

As far as DMD and DDS, they are the same. Each school of dentistry determines what diploma they pass out to graduates. SIUE school of dentistry passes out DMD.

Who earns more money ? A general dentist or an orthodontist and DDM and DDS?
orthodontist there loaded !
Reply:In general, dental specialits make more money and charge more money.

Lakeland Hills looks like a great dental practice, IMO
Reply:I'm a dentist.

First off, that's "D.M.D.", not "D.D.M."

D.D.S. and D.M.D. are identical degrees, and both can become orthodontists.

Orthodontists on the average make more than general dentists (by, oh...about $50 to $100k...maybe more).
Reply:orthodontist cause most of their business is braces which insurance probably does not cover at all.
Reply:orthodontists. They are specialist and charge more. Each appoitment takes less time so they see many many patients in one day. The materials they use are less expensive than materials, equipment, almagam for fillings, and all the other things the general dentist has to buy.

Do dentists have to complete a residency (like doctors) after earning a DDS?

Straight from Wikipedia

The Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) suffix denotes one of two common professional doctorates in the United States for dentists, the other being Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). DDS is also recognized in Canada. In the past, the difference consisted of having a DMD train for a brief period with general medical students, while a DDS studied in a more surgery-focused program that continued during the summers of the four year graduate degree. These extra surgical clerkships equated to a six year clinic program. Thus DDS graduates could confidently practice oral and maxillofacial surgery at a specialty level until 1997 when the American Dental Association House of Delegates revised the definitions of specialties; at this time the two degrees were deemed equal.

Until 1992 the United States government Medicaid and Medicare systems recognized the significant difference and denied DMD graduates from participating as providers due to their lack of surgical training. However with the new American Dental Association definitions and the training of dentists and physicians separately, the title has less significance than in the past.

Do dentists have to complete a residency (like doctors) after earning a DDS?
No. If you want to specialize you can do a residency. You can also do a GPR, which is a General Practice Residency, but this is not mandatory in most states... Its a one year residency. New York is the only state that mandates that dental students do a residency prior to practicing...

Student Loan Debt after Graduation for (MD, DO, DC, DPT, DPM, OD, DDS, etc...)?

I am trying to compile some figures here about student loan debt after graduate school. I am only interested in the debt owed from professional schooling. I want the total amount on average owed including the cost of living, schooling etc...

Thanks...

Student Loan Debt after Graduation for (MD, DO, DC, DPT, DPM, OD, DDS, etc...)?
i went to a public medical school and a private undergrad. had pretty much a free ride through undergrad and came out of med school owing 80,000 total with living expenses, tuition.. I have many colleagues who went to private undergrad without much grants/scholarships and private med schools and come out owing about 250,000 or even more. so there is quite a range

For a Dentist's title, what is the difference between a DDS and a DMD?

So what's the difference and which one would be better to go to?

For a Dentist's title, what is the difference between a DDS and a DMD?
No difference at all. It just depends on where they graduated from. They are qualified to do the same thing and no one is better than the other!
Reply:one is general studies another one is masters (specializing) I guess.
Reply:Hi! Nothing. It is simple the title of the degree. If a dental school is an entity in it's own, it tends to use the DDS. My school was combined with the Medical college so the first 2 years we all had similiar classes the degree is DMD to keep the flavor of Medical and Dental college. The training is about the same and the State exams are pretty much identical. What makes one dentist better than another is continuing education, talent, love for the professions and caring about their patients. The title is really irrelevant. M

With a dentist. whats the differents between a dmd and a dds?

There is NO difference between a DMD and a DDS, both dentists receive the very same training. I myself received a DMD degree and I perform all of the same functions and procedures as someone with a DDS degree including oral surgery. Check this website below for more information:

http://www.ada.org/public/topics/dds_dmd...

With a dentist. whats the differents between a dmd and a dds?
"The DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees. The difference is a matter of semantics. The majority of dental schools award the DDS degree; however, some award a DMD degree. The education and degrees are the same."

I found this on a website.
Reply:DDS and DMD are the same degree. No difference. A dentist with either degree can do everything a dentist is supposed to do.

The only reason why some schools grant a DMD degree rather than a DDS is because DMD is a university degree in traditional Latin-- "Dentariae Medicinae Doctorae."

This all started with Harvard when they established a dental school and they did not want to grant a dental degree in English ("Doctor of Dental Surgery."). So they started conferring their dental graduates with the DMD degree instead, and other dental schools around the country followed suit.

DDS and DMD degrees ARE THE SAME THING. End of story.
Reply:DMD=Cannot perform surgery if you need oral surgery you will go see a DDS. A DMD can do anything in office that does not require cutting of the gums and procedures that only require local anesthetic. A DDS preforms all oral surgeries.

MD+OMS ( 6 yrs) combined program or OMS (4yrs) past DDS.....is 2 yrs extra worth?

Yes.

The BA degree is becoming the new high school diploma and so the Masters degree is becoming the new BA and the PhD is becoming the new MA.

That sounds terribly confusing so let me summarize: each degree is now being considered as valuable as one degree lower than its status.

Any extra training makes you distinct and fetches a better annual income.

Currently I'm killing myself over two minors and majors in a BA degree and I've got job offers for every college I'm looking at because my knowledge encompasses so many different areas and is so extensive. I offer a new perspective to old problems.

I have one year left to go as a undergrad and then I'm heading for my PhD or J.D. (depending if I'm going into law). People are already interested in me JUST because I have a big head.

When choosing a Dentist, what's the difference between a DDS and a DMD?

A DDS is a doctor of dental surgery and a DMD is a doctor of dental medicine. I pulled the following quote from wikipedia "The American Dental Association states that the DDS and DMD degrees are identical, and dentists who hold the DDS have received the same education and training as dentists with the DMD, the difference being merely a matter of preference of terminology by the school granting the degree".

What dragon weapon should i get in runescape dds++ or dragon scimmy?

im almost 60 att and im not sure what one i want

What dragon weapon should i get in runescape dds++ or dragon scimmy?
DDS ++ not the scimitar and anyway you need to do Monkey Madness quest for the scimitar. The scimitar is powerful but DDS beta as it spec like 21-7 lol pretty sweet

dds is useful, but mostly just for the special

Using both together would be best, dds for special and scimmy the rest of the time, but if your gonna choose one, get the d scimmy

only downside is you gotta do monkey madness, but its not that hard

Question for Christian doctors (MD's) & dentists (DMD, DDS) ...?

Do any Christian doctors or dentists have a network where Christians can locate them and if they do are they willing to charge less money to others, especially Christians (Gal. 6:10) who are uninsured or indigent? Of course the medical "oath" requires this, but that seems more like a pipedream in today's society. Thank you for your answers in advance!

Question for Christian doctors (MD's) %26amp; dentists (DMD, DDS) ...?
Jonathon, ignore the nay-sayers. It is not illegal for any doctor to give a discount to whomever he wants to. If you are asking for yourself, I'm sorry you don't have insurance. That really stinks. We have insurance but it's really bad insurance so I know how you feel. Have you tried calling your local Social Services? They may be able to direct you to some charitable or public assistance to help you. Good luck and God bless you.
Reply:Thanks and God bless you, too. Report It

Reply:That seems like it would be against the law somehow.

But hey, if you find it, let me know. It's easy enough to claim to be a Christian.
Reply:Fat chance.
Reply:wow, i think its great that you try and get discounts because of your religion, really shows your character, no really.
Reply:What you suggest is not only borderline illegal, it is also highly immoral.

EDIT: Well you initial statement indicated you were looking for such a doctor or dentist in order to obtain a discount for being of the same religion. I would think that would be highly immoral; I am unsure as to the legality of it but I would imagine it would be dubious.

I have no problem with charity but only where charity is warranted and not only provided to a select few.

As for Christians not being "under the law but grace" you are still bound to obey the law of the land.
Reply:Well, I actually know quite a few Christian medical associations you can get in touch with, and was fixing to tell you how until you made that "Christians aren't under the law" remark...

Bigger breasts without surgery now 36D I want DDs?

48 yo female I would like 36DD breasts how can I do it without surgery?

Bigger breasts without surgery now 36D I want DDs?
I am a 65 year old female and would like to give you some VERY SERIOUS ADVICE.

I am a 38 D and at a certain point and you aren't far from the time when the elasticity of the breasts let go and OH MY GOSH THE DROOP IS BAD. It will happen no matter what you do.

Think many times before you enlarge them.
Reply:hagan das ice cream
Reply:You can't "grow breasts to become bigger" dear! The only thing that comes to mind is gaining weight, it usually makes you gain weight elsewhere.
Reply:Well building up your pectoral muscles can make them *look* bigger, but I don't know of any way to actually make them bigger without surgery.

You don't want DDs anyway, I have them and they rather suck. I've had back problems since I was a teen.
Reply:Are you SURE that's what you want? I breastfed 2 kids and i'm now a 38 DD and i have constant back pain around my bra line! (I was a 36 D before) Hurts like a B----!

(Especially around my time of the month, HORRIBLE back pain..)
Reply:wow. i got up to a 36D while i was breastfeeding, and i could barely maneuver around them and had constant back pain, i just can't imagine how you could function with breasts that big.
Reply:Listen to you wine....I have a 34B and I am flat you 36C come on send some over here.
Reply:If it really matters that much to you then you could go out to Frederick's of Hollywood on-line and purchase one of their gel bra's. I know that Victoria's Secret has them too. I'm a Frederick's fan myself so I always go there first. Most of all, try to be happy with what you have. There's really very little difference between "D" and "DD" trust me. I can't identify with wanting to change things like that. Be happy with who you are and certainly don't let anyone ever make you feel bad about yourself. Best Wishes to you.
Reply:can I just have a quick touch?
Reply:I'm a 36DD and want to be a 36D so I can comfortably sleep on my tummy again...I'll trade ya! *smile*

OK, in all seriousness, I'd suggest working out your pectoral muscles. This won't make your breasts larger, but it helps them become firmer, plus a little perkier, which will make them look bigger. And hey, working out always makes us feel healthier, right? :)
Reply:WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT DD'S? 36 D is plenty big
Reply:Why do you want them bigger, when they are already large? Is it that you feel they have lost firmness or are sagging. I don't see what is wrong with being a 36D, most women would be more than happy with that size. HTH : )
Reply:I hate to say this, but surgery is the only permanent option. You can use breast enhancers in your bra. Those 'magic' pills and creams only increase the size of the manufactures wallet.
Reply:Gain TONS and TONS of weight.

Or get a breast augmentation.

But really, WHY do you want to be bigger??????

You'll get back/neck/shoulder pain, grooves in your shoulders, rashes under your breasts. ITS NOT FUN!

Personal experience talking here! (I was a 38J went to a 38C by having a breast reduction)

Do oral surgeons (I assume DDM or DDS) qualify to perform maxillofacial surgery?

I heard this somewhere and need to know if this is true, and if so, is their cosmetic surgical practice limited to the face.

Do oral surgeons (I assume DDM or DDS) qualify to perform maxillofacial surgery?
After graduating dentistry school, dentists may do a residency/further training to become an oromaxillofacial (OMF) surgeon. These surgeons do complex jaw and facial surgeries. At many trauma centers, they do take facial trauma call.

I have not heard that they perform cosmetic surgery, but I suppose it would not surprise me if some transitioned into that. They do not have formal training to do surgery outside the face.

However, state medical licensing may not specifically prevent them from doing surgery elsewhere on the body if they wanted to. For instance, it might be possible for them to take a weekend course on breast augmentation and then legally (but not ethically) do that procedure. I can not say that for sure, though.
Reply:A D.D.M. should be D.M.D. These three initals designates that the doctor you are seeing has graduated from a dental school. Most of the dentists that graduate today have D.D.S. behind their name. D.D.S. stand for Doctor of Dental Surgery. Just like M.D. stands for Medical Doctor. Many years ago when the first dental schools opened up some schools chose to award the D.D.S. degree or the D.M.D. degree. D.M.D. stand for Doctor of Medical Dentistry. This may be due to the fact that these schools had close ties to a medical school. Nowadays, a dental school is affiliated with a University and all of the curriculum is nearly identical at all of the dental schools. If you go to a dentist that has a D.D.S. or D.M.D. it does not really matter. Both degrees mean the same thing.

To ask this kind of question on an international forum is probably not going to produce the results you want.

Ask friends, neighbors, local dental society...

Go in and meet Dr. Niver, ask for satisfied patients.

Even if someone here did know this DDS (which is unlikely), you would not want to trust the advice.

I accidentally rubbed it with another tooth and it started bleeding? I have a gause pad on it for now to stop the bleeding. Is this a blister? Or is it just irritated from the broken part of the tooth rubbing against the gum?

Please answer ASAP. Thank you!

Someone here a dental student or actual DDS? Blister on tooth question.?
You have given a perfect description of an abscess that has found its way to the surface. You need to see a dentist to take care of this.
Reply:its a puss filled pocket, i fought with one for ages and finally got the tooth pulled. its called an abcess
Reply:You should definitely get that looked at- an abscess can lead to an infection that can kill you if it gets in your bloodstream.
Reply:It is probably an abcess. If the tooth broke and now this came up, you probably need a rootcanal or to extract the tooth. You need to get on some antibiotics soon.
Reply:Dr Sam and Huskymom are CORRECT!
Reply:You need to get the tooth Xrayed. A blister at the gum line could actually be an abscess. Your tooth may be infected and in need of a root canal. If you put it off too long, and you need a root canal, you are risking undergoing serious consequences. The root canal isn't painful, but the sleepless nights with a painful throbbing tooth is. Get it checked out, better to be safe than sorry. Go to a clinic, they can set up a payment plan or something for you. Good luck.

I would think so. You need both,

What does d.m.d and DDS. MS for a dentists title?

DMD stands for Doctor of Dental Medicine. DDS stands for Doctor of Dental Surgery. According to the American Dental Association website, the two degrees involve the same kind of training. Most dental schools award the DDS degree whereas the rest award the DMD degree.

MS stands for Master of Science degree. Some dentists completed their MS degrees prior to enrolling in dental schools.

What does d.m.d and DDS. MS for a dentists title?
...and others with the MS have gone to programs like periodontics that award an MS after finishing their specialty training.

Thank You

Dr Grote is an excellent endodontist from what I have heard.

If you are looking for a good general dentist, you can call a few specialists and see who they recommend, then go meet them and chose the one you feel most comfortable with.

If you are looking for a specialist, call a few general dentists and do the same thing.

Good Luck
Reply:I dont mean to be rude or hateful, but why would you trust the judgement of a stranger on this dentist? Go meet him. Have a consult with him and see what you think about him. I had this same discusion with another assistant on her the other day. Your chances of getting a response from someone on here who actually knows this dentist are remote. Contact the Better Business organization in your town and see if he has any complaints. Or contact the state board of dental examiners. Im sorry, but you are the only true judge of this guy, or you should be. Dont necessarily take another patients opinion of him as the gospal.

Any opinions on Zetz, Michael R DDS - Ash Zetz %26amp; Sundheimer in Canton, OH?
Before any surgical procedure is even started you will have an initial consult with the doctor, this should give you the opportunity to survey the office, staff, and especially the dentist. If something tells you that this dentist or office is not for you, then by all means, have consults with other oral surgeons. This is "your" dental health and you should be confident and comfortable with whom ever you choose to trust your dental health to. Good luck with your upcoming procedures.
Reply:better make sure they will accept your insurance before you make the appointment.

Any opinions on Zech, Ralph K DDS - Puget Sound Oral & Maxillofacial surgery in Seattle, WA?

Anybody can say anything on Yahoo! and if you are trusting this provider with your oral health, you need reliable information.

What is the difference between a dds, dmd,pc and which one is the best if i want crowns caps or implants?

DDS and DMD are the same degree earned at different dental schools. I do not know what PC stands for.

What is the difference between a dds, dmd,pc and which one is the best if i want crowns caps or implants?
DDS (doctor dental surgery) is the best trained dental professional. You'd prefer a DDS for serious procedures like crowns, implants, root canals and tooth extractions.
Reply:DDS is Doctor of Dental Surgery and DMD is Doctor of Medical Dentistry. The curriculum is the same for both, the actual title is dependent upon where the degree was earned. You cannot determine which one would be more qualified for quality crowns and implants based on their title. You will need to research the dentist himself.
Reply:There is no difference. "They" just changed the degree name to "more closely reflect the education." One school that I know of offered a CHOICE between getting a DDS or a DMD while they made the transition. DDS is the older degree and DMD is "more modern." That's all. Unlike the DO vs. MD thing, where there once really was a difference, DMD and DDS do not represent a different school of thought.

PC means professional corporation.

How can I convey infor to the MI Bd of DDS licensing re licensed DDS who has been sued and admitted malpractic

I am the victim of dental malpractice (managed neglect). The litigation was settled via Board of Review (?) - it did not go to trial. The defendent admitted guilt. To the best of my knowledge he is still practicing. Additionally he has an alcohol problem. Is the licensing board alerted in these situations? He should not be practicing.....he's a pathetic case. I was awarded the maximum allowed by law. I have been being treated for three years and will not finish for approximately one more year. To date I have lost all of my upper teeth and many lower. Please advise. Thank you.

How can I convey infor to the MI Bd of DDS licensing re licensed DDS who has been sued and admitted malpractic
Simmply contact them directly. You can find their phone number in the phone book. In my state, is is actually in a black box as the very first listing under "Dentists" in the Yellow Pages.

Attn: Nebula D, Tomh311, joe, Angela DDS, Dr. Sam, Dr. TomBMW.M-3.M-5: Question Concerning Porcelain Crown!?

My appearance is very important 2 me and thus my only option is 2 get a natural-looking crown (as in tooth-colored). What r the pros and cons 4 porcelain-fused-to-metal vs. porcelain-fused-to-gold vs. all porcelain? Which of these would u recommend 4 a tooth that is towards the front of my mouth and used 4 tearing food (ex. sandwiches)?

Btw, I am very careful w/ my teeth and thus don't chew very hard things anyway.

Oh, and please feel free to answer this question even if ur name isn't mentioned above.

Attn: Nebula D, Tomh311, joe, Angela DDS, Dr. Sam, Dr. TomBMW.M-3.M-5: Question Concerning Porcelain Crown!?
IF there is enough tooth to work with, an all porcelain crown is the best for esthetics. They are quite satisfactory for strength also. You would be interested in getting an Empress, Lava or Procera crown. It might kind of freak your dentist out if you used the brand names, but I guess the information is out there. If your dentist wants some gold in the crown for any reason, maybe a Captek would work out okay. If strength is really a major concern, porcelain-fused-to-gold might be better than some of the other crowns I mentioned. You could have an all-porcelain margin where it would show. While a porcelain-fused-to-gold is generally regarded as having higher strength, there might be a bit of a problem masking out the metal and then the opacity of the inner layer of porcelain can kind of make the tooth look less life-like. Also, I think all three of the all-porcelain crowns I mentioned come with a five year warranty from any lab. Five years is no big deal as far as I am concerned, but at least it's something. I have some Empress crowns that are in service for more than 10-12 years now, but that's about as long as the product has been available. I see no reason to believe they will not work as long or longer than some of the aluminious porcelain crowns ("Old" style all-porcelain crowns) that I have had in place for 20, 25 or even 30 years now. I just did the front six for one of my assistants and, after seeing several different kinds of crowns, she asked for Empress, which I was pleased to do.
Reply:Okay. DO NOT get too hung up on a certain brand of crown, though. You might tell your dentist that you want an "all porcelain" crown like Lava or Empress and let him take it from there. Good luck. Report It

What is the diffrence between a DDS and a DDD when it comes to dental?

The Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) suffix denotes one of two professional doctorates in the United States and Canada for dentists, the other being Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

The American Dental Association states that the DDS and DMD degrees are identical, and dentists who hold the DDS have received the same education and training as dentists with the DMD, the difference being merely a matter of preference of terminology by the school granting the degree.

What is the diffrence between a DDS and a DDD when it comes to dental?
I'm assuming you mean DDS and DMD. The answer is none.

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) translates to Latin as Dentariae Chirurgia Doctor or DCD. The schools that give degrees in Latin decided early on that Dentariae Medicinae Doctor (Doctor of Dental Medicine or DMD) looked better on paper.

The curriculum and training are identical, the only difference is that one is in English and one is in Latin.

Ask your friends, co-workers, WSDA, or better yet - make an appointment with Dr. Sherman and go meet her. Ask for a consultation only, most dental offices will do that at no charge as long as there are no records taken and no exam done. Take a look at the office, see if the doc is someone you like. Ask where she went to dental school, how long has she been in practice, get a feel for the attitude of the staff.

OK.. what's the difference b/w dts/thx/dds? i prefer thx and dts as compared to dds..?

Dolby Digital and DTS are two different yet comparable surround sound encoding formats.

By the numbers both are as capable as the other. So it's comes down taste as to which is "better". DTS, I believe, is known to mix the surround effects a bit "hotter" than DD, but other than that, they're about the same.

THX is not a surround sound encoding format, but is a set of standards related to audio equipment performance.

OK.. what's the difference b/w dts/thx/dds? i prefer thx and dts as compared to dds..?
DTS is a type of surround sound encoding and DTS stand for Digital theater systems. Its biggest claim to fame was improved dynamic range in the encoding process. It has been my experience that the only ones who really benefit from this are those with high end high range reference speakers. They really sing on a set of Martin Logan's.

THX is surround sound related but only in the way information is encoded, what equipment is used, how it is remastered and the interconnects. There are now three grades of certification, select(small) ultra(big home) and commercial ( duh ). THX stands for Tomlinson Holman's experiment and was developed by Lucas arts and Skywalker sound.

Dolby Digital is the most prevalent and widely compatible 5.1 encoding around.
Reply:THX is a standard for DD and DTS it just means they meet a standard for George Lucas to get rich off of, and to make sure your DVD sounds great

some times DTS sounds better then DD, sometimes the other way around
Reply:"DTS" and "Dolby Digital" are the Coke and Pepsi of surround sound...You can add "THX" to either one of those formats...Like a Dolby cake with THX icing...Here's a link that shows all the formats (with pictures)...Click right here: http://www.whydoesmyhometheatersuck.com/...

But THX can actually make your home theater sound worse than just plain old Dolby or DTS...Nothing is RECORDED in THX...It's just added later by the receiver...Click this link to see why THX isn't always the best...Same site, different page...Click right here: http://www.whydoesmyhometheatersuck.com/...

Class 1: has minimal deposits, up to Class 4: which has deposits on every tooth and every surface (mesial, cervical, and distal a.k.a. towards the mid line, on the neck, and away from the mid line).

I am guessing that you are referring to the same thing. Maybe the DD stands for Dental Deposits.

Lost a molar filling, dds appt not for 10 more days. Anything I can do at home to keep things in good shape?

Yes, some pharmacies do carry Butler Gum temporary filling material which will keep food from packing into where the filling was lost. You might need to call around first in case your local pharmacies don't carry it.

I also noticed that you can order it from Amazon.com

Jacobs is believed to have debuted in the World Wrestling Federation as the masked Black Knight at the 1993 Survivor Series, though the Black Knight has also been said to have been Jeff Gaylord. He later appeared as the evil dentist of Jerry Lawler, Isaac Yankem, DDS, in 1995 after Bret Hart damaged Lawler's teeth by forcing his foot into his mouth, and as Diesel in 1996, replacing the original wrestler to have portrayed the Diesel character, Kevin Nash.

1997-1998

In October 1997, Jacobs was repackaged as Kane, the storyline half-brother of The Undertaker. He re-debuted in the WWF at Bad Blood 1997 on October 5, 1997, costing The Undertaker his Hell in a Cell match with then WWF European Champion Shawn Michaels. Kane and The Undertaker feuded with one another over the following year, during which time their history vis-à-vis one another was expounded upon.

Jacobs first wrestled as the Kane character in a squash match against Ahmed Johnson on the November 3, 1997 episode of RAW. The Undertaker initially refused to fight him, saying he would not fight his own "flesh and blood" for show. This led to Kane interfering in The Undertaker's WWF Championship title match with Shawn Michaels at the 1998 Royal Rumble, costing him the title once again. After the match, Kane locked The Undertaker in a casket and set it on fire. This provoked The Undertaker into returning to defeat Kane at WrestleMania XIV on March 29, 1998. They continued to feud until Unforgiven 1998 on April 26, 1998, when The Undertaker defeated Kane in an inferno match with help from Vader.

On May 18, 1998, Kane was revealed to be the result of a furtive union between The Undertaker's mother and Paul Bearer, an employee at the funeral home in Death Valley owned by The Undertaker's parents. When Kane and The Undertaker were children, The Undertaker "accidentally" burned down the funeral home, killing their parents and hideously scarring Kane both physically and mentally (the parents of The Undertaker are supposedly buried somewhere on Long Island; during an episode of RAW taped on Long Island, Kane and Bearer ostensibly exhumed their bodies and brought them to the arena). Bearer, who survived the fire, hid Kane in a mental asylum as he grew up and went on to form an alliance with The Undertaker (the details of "Kane's" early life were recounted in the book Journey into Darkness). After suffering mistreatment at the hands of The Undertaker, Bearer opted to bring Kane in to the WWF in order to gain vengeance upon The Undertaker.

The Kane character is portrayed as being psychologically unstable: depressed, schizophrenic, extremely violent and quick to anger. Like his half-brother, Kane is supposedly able to summon fire and bolts of lightning at will (although this particular talent has been alternately emphasised or de-emphasised depending upon the creative direction of the WWF at the time).

After defeating The Undertaker to win a WWF Championship title shot, Kane won the WWF Championship at the 1998 King of the Ring pay-per-view on June 28, 1998, defeating "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a First Blood match. He went on to form a tag team with Mankind, with whom he won the WWF World Tag Team Championship.

1999-2000

In 1999, Kane joined The Corporation. He eventually turned face after he was betrayed by Corporation member Chyna and thrown out of the stable. His face run ended when he allied with The Undertaker, turning him heel once again. After he and The Undertaker split, he turned face once again and formed a tag team with X-Pac. While teaming with X-Pac, Kane evolved from being mute to aided speech through an electrolarynx to speaking (albeit infrequently) unaided (with his first words being "suck it") and acquired a girlfriend, Tori. The tag team broke apart when X-Pac rejoined D-Generation X. In the course of their feud, Tori betrayed Kane and joined D-Generation X, and the former partners engaged in a lengthy feud that finally ended at WrestleMania 2000, where Kane triumphed over his former partner.

Shortly after WrestleMania, Kane suffered a hand injury that kept him out of action for a month. When he returned, it was to help The Undertaker and The Rock fight off the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. His involvement in this feud culminated in a main event match at King of the Ring 2000 against Vince and Shane McMahon, and then Champion Triple H. The Undertaker and Kane's rivalry resurfaced during the match, but they patched things up soon after. Kane later turned heel once again by assaulting The Undertaker, leading to a match between the two at SummerSlam 2000. The match ended when The Undertaker removed Kane's mask, causing him to flee the ring.

Kane stayed in contention for the WWF Championship for the remainder of the year, and ended 2000 in a feud with Chris Jericho.

2001-2002

Kane reformed his alliance with The Undertaker immediately before the 2001 Royal Rumble (in which he eliminated a record number of wrestlers, 11, and was the runner-up). In early 2001, Kane competed for the WWF Hardcore Championship, defeating Raven for the title at WrestleMania X-Seven in a match that also featured The Big Show. At the same time, Kane began teaming with The Undertaker as the "Brothers of Destruction". In the course of the year, they feuded with Edge and Christian, Rikishi and Haku and The Two-Man Power Trip. While feuding with The Two-Man Power Trip, Kane defeated Triple H at Judgment Day 2001 to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. He later lost the title to Albert on an episode of SmackDown! following interference from Diamond Dallas Page.

During The Invasion, Kane and The Undertaker feuded with Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Kanyon after Page began stalking The Undertaker's wife Sara. The feud culminated at SummerSlam 2001, when Kane and The Undertaker defeated Page and Kanyon in a steel cage match, resulting in them holding both the WWF World Tag Team Championship and the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Kane and The Undertaker went on to defeat KroniK at Unforgiven 2001, and both participated in the ten man survivor series match at the 2001 Survivor Series as members of "Team WWF".

In 2002, Kane began feuding with Kurt Angle, whom he lost to at WrestleMania X8. On March 25, 2002, the WWF was divided into two "brands", RAW and SmackDown!, with both Kane and The Undertaker being drafted to RAW. Kane went on to feud with the New World Order until tearing his bicep. Kane returned to WWE television in the summer of 2002, winning the World Tag Team Championship with The Hurricane. On October 7, 2002, Kane successfully single-handedly defended the World Tag Team Championship in a four team Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match (The Hurricane had been attacked earlier that evening and was thus unable to compete).

In October 2002, Kane began feuding with Triple H, leading to a match at No Mercy 2002 on October 20, 2002 in which both Kane's WWE Intercontinental Championship and Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship were at stake. In the weeks preceding the match, Triple H claimed that, several years earlier, Kane had had an unrequited relationship with a woman named Katie Vick. He went on to claim that, after Vick was killed in a car crash, Kane (the driver) raped her corpse. Triple H later threatened to show video footage of Kane committing the act in question; however, the footage that finally aired showed Triple H (dressed as Kane) simulating necrophilia with a mannequin in a casket. The storyline was very unpopular with fans, and was de-emphasised before the title match. Triple H went on to defeat Kane at No Mercy, unifying the two titles.

2003-2004

Kane Unmasked

Kane Unmasked

Kane formed a tag team with Rob Van Dam, with the duo eventually winning the World Tag Team Championship. In June 2003, Triple H offered Kane a spot in his stable "Evolution". RAW Co-General Manager "Stone Cold" Steve Austin offered Kane the opportunity to face Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship if he rejected Triple H's offer; however, Co-General Manager Eric Bischoff insisted that Kane unmask should he lose the match. Kane accepted Austin's offer and went to challenge Triple H the following week in Madison Square Garden. Triple H won the match, and Kane removed his mask, revealing that his face was not actually scarred. He then immediately turned heel by chokeslamming Van Dam, who he went on to defeat at SummerSlam 2003. In an interview with Jim Ross, it became apparent that Kane's facial scars were actually mental scars. At the end of this interview, Kane, believing that he was being mocked, attacked Ross and set him afire.

Unmasking rendered Kane emotionally unstable, on one occasion driving him to Tombstone Linda McMahon on the RAW stage. This action sparked a feud between Kane and Linda's son Shane, with Kane defeating Shane in a Last Man Standing match at Unforgiven 2003 and an ambulance match at the 2003 Survivor Series. During the latter event, Kane interfered in a Buried Alive match between Vince McMahon and The Undertaker, helping McMahon bury The Undertaker and win the match.

In January 2004, Kane took part in the 2004 Royal Rumble match. Over the following weeks, Kane repeatedly insisted that The Undertaker was "dead", only to be met with various paranormal incidents such as a rainstorm localized over the ramp on which he stood. The Undertaker finally returned at WrestleMania XX (with Paul Bearer at his side), defeating Kane.

Following his defeat at WrestleMania XX, Kane fell in love with Lita, but was spurned. This led to him kidnapping Lita in May 2004 and asking her an unknown question, which she replied to in the affirmative later that month. On the same night, Kane won a twenty man battle royal to receive a title shot at Chris Benoit's World Heavyweight Championship at Bad Blood 2004. He was defeated by Benoit.

Lita later announced that she was "pregnant", with Matt Hardy (her then-boyfriend in both kayfabe and reality) assuming that he was the child's father. On the June 21, 2004 episode of RAW, Kane claimed that he was the father. On Vengeance 2004,with help from Lita ,Hardy defeated Kane in a no DQ match. Kane and Matt Hardy faced one another in a "'Till Death Do Us Part" match at SummerSlam, with Lita obliged to wed the victor. Kane defeated Hardy, and "married" Lita on the August 23, episode of RAW.

On the September 13 episode of RAW, Gene Snitsky accidentally fell on Lita during a match with Kane, ostensibly causing Lita to miscarry. Kane turned face as a result, and began seeking revenge against Snitsky for causing the death of his child. He lost to Snitsky in a steel chain match at Taboo Tuesday 2004, and was sidelined for several months after Snitsky crushed his larynx with a chair following the match. During his "injury" Kane was filming See No Evil.

2005-2006

Kane returned in January 2005, defeating Snitsky at New Year's Revolution 2005. He went on to compete in the "Money in the Bank" ladder match at WrestleMania 21. After WrestleMania, Kane and Lita reconciled with one another and began antagonizing Lita's rival Trish Stratus, leading to a match between Kane and Stratus's hired bodyguard Viscera at Backlash 2005 that was won by Kane. Lita later turned on Kane and sided with Edge, leading to a feud between the two that ended when Edge defeated Kane in a stretcher match on the July 25, 2005 episode of RAW.

Kane returned to WWE television on October 17, 2005, winning an eighteen-man battle royal. As a result of his victory, he, along with The Big Show and Shawn Michaels, was featured in an internet poll to decide who would receive a shot at the WWE Championship at Taboo Tuesday 2005. Shawn Michaels obtained the popular vote obligating the runner-ups to team together to face Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Championship. The duo successfully secured the victory at Taboo Tuesday and retained their titles throughout the remainder of 2005.

In early 2006, he took part in an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship at New Year's Revolution 2006 on January 8, 2006, but did not win. Kane also took part in the 2006 Royal Rumble and the 2006 Road to WrestleMania Tournament. He and Big Show feuded with Carlito and Chris Masters throughout early 2006, culmintating in a successful title defence at WrestleMania 22 on April 2, 2006.

On the following evening, Kane and Big Show lost the World Tag Team Championship to Spirit Squad members Kenny and Mikey. One week later, Kane and Big Show faced Spirit Squad members Johnny and Nicky in a title rematch, but were disqualified after Kane "snapped" (ostensibly due to "voices in his head"). In subsequent weeks, Kane began attacking anyone who mentioned the date "May 19". During the match between Kane and Big Show at Backlash, Kane's voice began echoing throughout the arena saying "May 19", "They're all going to know", and "You can't hide from it," leaving Kane visibly shaken. Big Show then struck Kane with a chair, resulting in a no contest.

On May 19, 2006 Kane appeared on SmackDown! as JBL's hand-picked opponent for Rey Mysterio. After both the aforementioned voices and mask video began playing, Kane chokeslammed both Layfield and Mysterio before leaving the ring. On the following episode of RAW, he claimed that "May 19" was the date on which his mother and adopted family were killed in a fire. The voices continued on to the May 29, 2006 episode of RAW, when Kane was confronted by the source of the voice, a wrestler wearing his old mask and ring attire. Kane and the look-alike continued to fight one another in subsequent weeks, leading to a match between the two being scheduled for Vengeance 2006, in which the real Kane lost to the Impostor. On the June 26 episode of RAW, Kane threw the impostor out of the arena and removed his mask, saying "I believe this belongs to me."

Kane was absent from WWE television for several weeks thereafter as he toured Europe to promote See No Evil. He made his comeback at ECW, to face Big Show for the ECW title in July, where he lost when Paul Heyman interfered. He returned to RAW on August 7, defeating Shelton Benjamin in a No.1 contenders match for the Intercontinental Championship. He made an appearence at Summerslam 2006 during the DX versus The McMahons match where he brawled with Umaga. The next night, he faced Johnny Nitro for the Intercontinental Championship on the August 22 edition of RAW, and seemed to have the match won, until Umaga came in and interfered. Kane got back up from one Samoan Spike. However, he did not get up from the second one and was left bleeding in the ring. After what Kane did to Umaga at SummerSlam and Umaga interfering in Kanes' match, this could possibly start a fued between the two.

The Jinx Brothers:

For what seemed like an eternity, a couple of skinny southern boys with the name 'Hardy' took horrific bumps just to make the WWF Superstar look as good as possible on television.. Matt %26amp; Jeff Hardy were hitting the floors long before they officially adopted the eXtreme attitude.. Glorified jobbers with a willingness to job to the stars and the drive to reach for the top..

In the Mid-90s, if you tuned into WWF television you were sure to see at least one Hardy boy getting his *** handed to him by the any number of Vince's big boys, and often times they would take a spill over the top to the floor.. Of course, this was before fans understand how big of a deal that sort of bump was, so the Hardy's got no respect..

In an attempt to get the Hardyz over as more respectable opponents, they suited them with colourful costumes and big fuzzy masks and called them the Jinx Brothers.. They still lost most of their matches, they just looked more flashy.. The took all the same bumps, and with the exception of some strategically placed padding, had the same physical appearance.. The Jinx Brothers were thrown into the ring with the Grimm Twins, one of the bigger more powerful teams at the time.. Of course, soon after they dropped the gimmick, and started getting pushed towards their first WWE Tag Titles..

JINX brothers, and believe it or not, that was the Hardy Boyz under those crazy masks.. Ironically enough, the Jinx Brothers were the focus of our recent Hall OWW Shame inductee..

Together with Lita, Matt and Jeff Hardy comprised the trio dubbed Team Xtreme, their name serving as a reflection of their "extreme" high-flying moves. During the time they were in WWE together, they were one of the most popular tag teams, primarily because of their TLC (Tables, Ladders and Chairs) matches with Edge and Christian as well as The Dudley Boyz, along with their unique "grunge"-type look that appealed to the WWE's younger fanbase. On top of the high-flying moves, they were faced off in a match in an episode of "That 70's Show" in which they played two wrestlers in a match. This episode's main guest-star was The Rock, but they ended up shown on the show and Matt ended up winning. The high-flying tactics of the young Hardy brothers and Lita would make them one of the most popular tag teams in the WWE at that time, particularly among female fans. The team would eventually split up, however, in favor of both Matt and Jeff pursuing singles careers. Jeff was later fired from the WWE and later joined TNA.

In August 2006, WWE.com announced that they had resigned Jeff, and stated that he would be coming back to the WWE. Jeff returned on the August 21, 2006 edition of RAW, where he interrupted Edge as he presented the new WWE title. Later that night Jeff defeated Edge in a non-title match by disqualification after Lita pulled Edge out of the ring
