How are lasers used in dentistry?
The laser companies would have us believe you can use their products for everything, including ingrown toenails!

In reality, they are not better than conventional treatments (drills, scalpels, scaling instruments, bleaching) except that they sound high-tech, wizz-bang, and are used as a marketing tool by some dentists.

Think it over - if your dentist has just spent $50,000 - 100,000 on a laser, then :

1. of course he's going to promote it's use to you;

2. of course he's going to use it for as many situations as possible, even if there is an easier/better way;

3. of course you're going to be paying for it in the long-term as he has to raise his fees to pay for this big toy!
Reply:They only use lasers for when you whiten your teeth.
