What's the difference between a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) ?

Depends on what Dental School you went to. I went to Indiana, I am a DDS, and my collegues who went to Louisville have a DMD. We are all dentist and we all practice dentistry the same way.
