i am a dentist from india,,trying to go USA as a student ..then clear board exams and do DDS....but i have tried thrice to get USA visa ....but i couldn't...the reason is i have not sufficient funds..eventhough i have .....but basically they insisting my bachelors is not related to my masters degree which i took [masters in public administration],,and many of them said to try USA visa from europe,,but plzz help me which europe country is good for dentist...and also to get USA visa ..thanking you.

Dentists, Please Tell Me What You Think?

My DDS hasn't been able to determine what's wrong with my mouth, in am area where my last Root Canal was. Xrays show no infection anywhere and when the dentist feels around my gums, she cannot feel infection. My symptoms were simular to those of a tooth infection. After alot of investigating and testing, she determined that the most effected tooth was the rooth canaled tooth but she wasn't sure why. (she also has a post grad in endodontics). Long story short, my best friend who works in the dental field for 13 years said it really sounded like clinching or grinding to her and to try a night guard. It is now day 5 with a night guard and I notice a substantial difference. Still some slight throbbing, some slight aching but nothing like what it was. So what do you think? Is it possible all that horrible pain was associated with clinching and grinding?

Its probably the root canal failed. Next option remove it and put a bridge or denture
Reply:I would guess it is a missed canal (quite easy to do). You may ask the dentist for a referral to an endodontist if it doesn't get better (does your dentist use a microscope? -- if not, an endodontist with a microscope would have a better chance of finding the canal). Another thing to check is for a high bite.

And then also, there is a possibility that it is/was from grinding and clenching (if in fact you do that). Whatever the case, make sure you participate in good follow-up to know with highest likelyhood what is going on. If the cause is not found definitively in the first phases of followup, I would ask for a follow-up xray of the tooth at 6 months. Best wishes.

For dueling ? Scimmy and DDS.Once youve done MM theres no need for a D long, don't bother with them now. Train Str and Att with Scimmy Until you can use a whip, then use whip for att and scimmy for str.DDS is not good for training as you dont get xp for poison damage.

Reply:I assume you will be using the weapon to train your combat levels? Then you should get a dds along with a sword. I think its down to personal preference whether you like long or scimmy, but i think the scimmy looks cooler. In terms of the damage they inflict, they are very close.

You should use the scimmy to train, and dds for high damage and poison, just don't train with it.

And don't lose your scimmy! Its a pain to get back again.

If you die a lot, (which im sure you don't) then get a d-long.

Can someone please tell me if they have experienced sinus problems that cause toothaches? I have had bad toothache for the last week... when I went for my exam 2 wks ago dds said all was well.... she took xrays and gave me an exam and said just small fillings and I am scheduled for that in the end of this month. So how is it that my tooth is feeling like this? It doesn't hurt... it's just annoying really. A slight pulsate. I can drink cold stuff, hot stuff and i'm fine. It's above an old root canal and my sinuses feel weird too. I cannot afford to go back to see her again because i'm saving for my apmt at the end of the month. Someone please help! This is so frustrating. Thanks.

A visit to your MD will confirm if you do have a sinus infection... and then antibiotics will be prescribed.

Reply:I do know that during some seasons, my sinus pressure is enough to cause my teeth to hurt.

It's possible for you to have sinus pressure even if your nose isn't stuffy. Try taking some sinus meds, and see if that helps.

Reply:Root canals often lead to chronic, low-grade infections in the bone called "Cavitational Osteonecrosis".

These 'asymptomatic' infections are rarely recognized by dentists (without special training) and can lead to nerve-type pains in the face/sinuses (called NICO - Neuralgia Inducing Cavitational Osteonecrosis).

Treatment consists of removal of the diseased tooth (root canal) and debridement of the infected/diseased bone. Again, a specialist is required for this treatment.

Reply:It doesn't matter what type of pain or discomfort it is, it is important because it is bothering you.Call the dentist again and describe the discomfort you are experiencing and ask if you can move the date of your fillings sooner or allow you to come in to examine your mouth again. The dentist may be able to prescribe you a painkiller or make a suggestion that will be helpful.

Whever I pinch my nipples.. I feel it in my toes...

It's also a little painful too.

I've been taking then for 2 months now... %26amp; my breasts are really tender.

Bra size: D-DDs (in between)

Everytime someone runs past me, or I feel like I'll bump into ayone, I grab my boobs (really embarrasing lol)

It's been sore for the past 2-3 weeks... anything I can do to make my breasts feel better??

Taking birth control pills made my breasts SUPER sensitive?
if you just started your pills then these symptoms should go away in a few months...give it time

if you have been on them for over three months then the hormones in the pills may be wrong for you and you should call your doctor to switch

Reply:Hello, "M.S." stands for "Master of Science" degree. It could be in anything, even something totally unrelated to dentisty such as mathamatics or computer science. It would not be like a Master of Arts, which could be in history, political science, etc.

But most likely, they took some specialized training in biology or other related field similar to the training they revieved while getting their four year bachelors degree. Some like to get a degree in Psychology or dental materials or research. On the other hand, some dentists want to do side work such as being expert witnesses in legal cases which require them to have additional degrees such as a Masters or PhD

so since they were pretty big before my period will they (or should they) get even bigger now that I've got it ?

Just wondering, my mom's a D and has been since she was 13 and but she got her period when she was 12 so I've always wondered if mine are just slightly delayed since I got my period so late, and if they will make it up to Ds. (my grandma had DDs).

When I was 12, I got my period and I was a 34A. 7 months later, I was a 34D. You may grow a little more, but you seem pretty big still. You may get to be a D after you have kids.

Windows Vista Upgrade OEM -> 2 machines, 2 keys = Doable?

I have a laptop from HP that came with Windows XP Media Center installed and was then upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium with an OEM upgrade DVD that was shipped to me later on. I did a clean install.

When the laptop died and I needed a backup machine I bought a small Acer PC which already had Vista installed with a shitload of tools no-one needs, which is why I didn't even bother making bakup DDs with the tool on the machine.

Both machines now run the same version. of Windows Vista.

My question is: Would it be possible to do a complete reinstall with the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD on the Acer machine, given the fact that it has its own license key on it?

I'd rather know whether this works before I start.

What are the symptoms of a root canal?

Does a lingering slight aching-throbbing pain always indicate root canal is needed?

If xrays were taken in October that show no decay near the pulp,... could it have progressed to the pulp by now?

Does tapping always indicate root canal is needed?

Are there any tests I can do that will determine that root canal is likely needed... i.e.: Ice test, tap test, heat test?

My symptoms are: As of yesterday an old filled tooth started hurting after eating cold cereal. A alight aching-throb is best to describe it. It still hurts a little. It is not sensitive to heat. Tap is a little sensitive. Any advice is very appreciated. Going to DDS next week. Thanks.

More than likely your filling is eroding, my dentist said that they do that. If it is a big filling you sill probably need to have it removed and the tooth crowned. You normally only need a root canal in the case of an infection which usually is noticeable because you would be in a lot of pain with facial swelling.

Reply:I'm not a dentist, this is from my personal experience.

Fillings need to be replaced periodically because they wear out and begin to leak. When the dentist cleans out the old filling, the hole will get larger. When the hole gets large enough that the filling puts pressure on the nerve, it's time for a root canal. I'm sure there are other reasons, too. But this is what happened to me.
Reply:decay does not always come with symptoms. it will only become relevant to the patient, usually by the time it reaches the pulp and it would mean sensitivity, general aching of the tooth perhaps with normal masticitory pressure. the symptoms of a root canal would usually be an abscessed tooth. you will see a small fistula at the apex (root) of the tooth, patients usually don't notice for a while, but what is happening is the tooth is infected and the pus needed to drain somewhere because it can't go through tooth structure, only soft tissues or bone. depending on the severity there may be pain, but again usually the patient will have had it for some time and not known. it could have progressed to the pulp by now for sure, to detect decay a periapical x-ray of the tooth should be taken. your dds will help from there.
Reply:Even though you alraedy have a filling in that tooth , it probably needs to be resealed. Depending on how long ago it was they most likely have better products to do this. Also, you might want to try using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth. This really helped me. Reply:Dental caries or cavities can lead to a dental infection that may require root canal to rectify. Continued dental pain could indicate a dental abscess (infection around the root of the tooth). You want to treat these early with antibiotics so surgery is not needed later. Pain on tapping simply means there is inflammation going on around the tooth and infection is the leading cause. Hot and cold sensitivity are also clues to infection. If you are not allergic to penicillin it is the drug of choice for you my friend.

I'm not sure exactly what your question is, but those that don't agree aren't aware of the law. Obviously it's legal in your state, and it is in mine also. It's also permissible (in Michigan) to complete a u-turn on red on a divided highway, since the traffic is moving in one direction.

Drivers aren't required to make the turn if they don't want to, however. Nor do they have to make a right on red. Many people are more comfortable waiting for the green light, and there's no law against it. However, it's liable to draw some horn honking.
Reply:I've never come across that situation but it seems like it should be OK. because you're not cutting across traffic and going into the nearest lane it seems pretty safe, just like a right hand turn on red. I'd trust the handbook and not the word of other drivers.
Reply:It's the same thing as if you pulled up to a red light and wanted to turn right. You can turn right if traffic is clear unless there is a "NO Right on Red" sign.

I was 14 when I started my period, and to be honest I sounded exactly like you - AA-A cup, discharge etc, etc, all the 'signs'.

Then one day it just took me by surprise.

I was, and you are, at a stage when hormones are flying all over the place. You can't predict these things, don't worry, you are totally normal. Your period will be along soon enough, and when it does you'll see that it's nothing to be worried about! Your breasts will grow too, mine did like overnight (sorry if TMI!) just relax and enjoy not having to worry about when your next period is due, and have you got enough sanitary protection, and blah blah blah! Seriously, you're lucky that you haven't started yet!

I am planning on going to graduate school right after finishing my undergraduate. I am currently borrowing a little bit of money using Federal Stafford loans (need based) and the rest is covered under various grants etc. My plan is to get either an MD or DDS degree, but both degrees are very expensive. Upper Molar Canals?

I'm a dentist.

I've read in a couple of journals that maxillary first molars have four canals almost 100% of the time.

I have my doubts about that statistic, as I find a fourth canal maybe 50% of the time in my cases. Granted, I do not use an endodontic microscope, but even if I did I doubt I'd approach even 75%.

Nonetheless, most of the time the 4th canal merges with the maxillary mesial-buccal canal, hence good obturation of the MB canal effectively seals-off the 4th canal.

Maxillary second molars have fourth canals less often.
Reply:Upper first molars have about 90% of the time 4 canals. Two near the front cheekside, one at the back cheekside and one towards the roof of the mouth. Second molars most often have 3 canals. However, human anatomy can be highly varied. I have seen second molars with 2 canals and first molars with 6.

My DDS says one of my molars can't be saved, and it is being extracted new week. He recommends an implant.

I didn't even start the conversation with him yet,because I didn't want to be speechless when he announces how much it will be.

Whether you get an implant or opt for a bridge, prices for each are about the same. Yes, implants are expensive, but they are the ideal restoration for a missing tooth. By doing an implant, the teeth on either side will not need any uneccessary procedure done to them. With a bridge, healthy abutment teeth need to be prepped for the crowns. Not everyone is a candidate for an implant though. Go for a consultation with a periodontist for the implant. They will tell you what their costs are and what's involved to have this procedure done. Then talk with your general dentist office to find out what fee the implant crown will be.

What does that mean my friends?
It means that that file contains something that your scan did not like. Your virus scanner probably quarantined the file, isolating it from running as to not do damage to your computer. It could be spyware or a corrupt file or could contain a virus. To find where that file was, you would follow the path by going to "My Computer" in the start menu then click on the C drive then Users then rum i...etc. Hope this helps!

my 15 year old grand son was arrested at his school in front of 2 school counselors that state that the arresting officers did not read him his rights. and my grand son is in a special ed alternative school and receive SSI and is a client of DDS developmental development services for children . I am in total agreement with the arrest but now how the arrest was carried out and where it was done. He ran down the hall screaming with one hand cuff on his wrist and there were other developmental children in there class and they could hear my grand son screaming in the hall way at the top of his lungs.... during the whole investigation they were alway able to find my grand son in the same location at his center for where he has lived for the last 19 months. he is a child with issues and was not a flight risk.

But you said it yourself that he is 5150?

So reading him his rights and him understanding, there has to be alternative arrest and detainment procedures.

My brother went 5150, they took him to the hospital. My mother took care of him after that. My son when he gets in a fight with his ex wife, acts 5150 so they can take him to a better place than jail.

So just make sure, that he is medically taken care of. Then handle the process of him being under develop. They should appoint him a special social worker? They should handle everything and inform you.

I got both of lower back wisdom teeth removed a week ago , today I cant feel the left side of my tongue still a week later . they never had me sign an consent form , saying that you could have permanent to temp numbness in the chin /tongue I went back in for my weekly checkout they tried to get me to sign the consent form.. I said no way !!! you should of had me sign that before the operation , also the guy that says hes an oral surgeon is just a DDS my wisdom teeth were impacted they another dentist before said I need an oral surgeon , which this guy claimed to be , but wasn’t . when I looked him up .

So right now I’m still in pain and cant feel the left of my tongue which is numb like I got shot with Novocain right in it

Wisdom tooth removal?
There is nothing to do to make it go away faster, nor is there anything you can do to create further damage. Often in small framed women the numbness may resolve faster when the swelling decreases as the nerve to the lower jaw passes through one of the jaw muscles before it enters the bone, and swelling in this area can cause you to have a numb lip as well. Tingly itchy feeling is a good sign that it is resolving, but the next stage may be a period of sensitivity where cold things feel colder and hot things hotter on the effected side, and you may occasionally feel an "electric" tingliness which means the nerve is in its final stage of healing. Let the doc keep an eye on it with you.

Usually numbness after wisdom tooth removal affects only the lower jaw and lip area on the side of the extraction, not the whole side of the face. Thankfully numbness after wisdom teeth removal is rare, and when it does happen often will resolve itself within the first month or two. I hope you stay in touch with your doctor, and discuss with him what your options are available.

This can happen often.Especially with front tooth extractions. It should heal on its own after a few weeks. Antibiotics can help keep the infection away. I wouldn't worry,nor would I have surgery until I have seen an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist. I have had it happen twice, due to abscesses in my front teeth. They healed just fine. See the ENT before you commit to surgery, they are better able to deal with sinus injuries.
Reply:It happened to me when I had my wisdom teeth removed. One of them was extraordinarily close to my sinuses and it was pierced. To me, the worst part was the dry socket and the constant sinus drainage out the tooth socket. GROSS!! Anyway, the DDS packed it with something soaked in oil of cloves (nasty tasting) to help it heal from the bottom of the socket out so that I wouldn't get an abscess. It all turned out fine without further surgery.
Reply:The roots of upper premolars/molars are very close to the floor of the Maxillary Sinus, sometimes during an extraction procedure the floor of the sinus may be perforated, in the majority of such cases the perforation is so small that no lasting damage is done as the perforation is protected by a blood clot which fills the socket, and neither the patient/dentist is actually aware that it has happened.

If the perforation is larger the patient may become aware of this by the presence of fluid entering the nose after drinking/rinsing the mouth out, this perforation is called an Oro-Antral Fistula and needs to be closed to prevent infection of the sinus.

Small perforations can be closed by stitching the socket, larger ones require closure by stitching a flap of gum over the perforation its self!

Attempting to remove a retained tooth root can push the root up into the sinus or it can become trapped beneath the Mucous Membrane lining the floor of the sinus, if this is the case a minor oral surgery procedure can be carried out to have the root removed!
Reply:This is not uncommon in upper molars when they are removed. The usual course of action would depend on the size of the opening. A very small opening can sometimes heal itself and the larger the opening, the harder to heal and sometimes surgery is required. Antibiotics are required for any opening no matter the size to inhibit bacteria growth in the sinuses. I imagine the reason your husband is not going back for some time is because they are hopeful it will close on it's own. The fact that they did not do surgery right away is great. No blowing the nose, sneeze with mouth wide open, and try not to sniff. In other words, no negative pressure up there. good luck

go get some benzodent (made for sore in your mouth) and put in around that area and it makes it feel numb for quite a while, Just continue doing it until you get to a dentist. It works 100 times better than toothache medicine.

Reply:If you lost a filling or of you think that you may have a crack in your tooth - then you can go to the pharmacy (24hour) sometimes has a staff member on call at all hours. They sell temp filling that works really well ntil you can see your DDS.
Reply:There is a generic form of Naproxen available over the counter, which is slightly smaller milligrams than what some doctors prescribe for pain and inflammation, I have an abscess and it has helped a lot, it may upset your stomach a little, but would you rather deal with that or your tooth, and it is really not all that bad when you consider being in constant pain. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that really helps, just make sure that you follow the dosage.

Reply:I don't know what you've taken so far, so make sure you are at the end of the dosing cycle before doing this....As long as you are not allergic and a normal adult weight (90lbs and up), you can take 4 advils (every 6 to 8 hours) AND 2 tylenols. (every 4 to 6 hours). The first dose won't be as effective as the next. Don't take more than I've listed. Take a hot bath to help relax your body and get some rest. To help rest you can also pop back 50mg of Benadryl

I still need advice on these subs. I know I either want 2-4 18s (maybe 15s, depends) to start out with but I don't know which to get. I don't think I'll get REs or DDs because they are pretty pricey (unless someone can talk me into it lol). I just need something HUGE. I need some KingKong in the trunk lol. honestly I would take the BTL's

The others are good choices too but for the money you can't go wrong.... plus its nice to be able to customize it before you buy it!

I would probably go with 2 18 and put a memphis 4k on each one (i know its a 2k watt sub but they can handle it)

Build the box to be around 14 to 16 cuft and tune it anywhere between 32 and 36 htz.... be sure to make sure you have the electrical to back up the system as it is going to be VERY power hungry!

Earning a doctoral degree in dentistry usually requires four academic years of study. Dental schools award the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). The four years of study leading to the DDS or DMD degree progress as follows:

Years One and Two

Classroom and laboratory instruction in basic health sciences (including anatomy, biochemistry, histology, microbiology, pharmacology and physiology), with an emphasis on dental aspects

Basic principles of oral diagnosis and treatment, may practice on manikins and models, and may begin treating patients later in the second year

Years Three and Four

If you intend to specialize you need to plan on up to another 2 years after the 4 for the DDS (if you want to be an orthodonist, oral surgeon, etc)

Majoring in science is not a must, but completion of predental science requirements is necessary.

A college undergraduate degree is recommended in preparation for dental school. Most dental students have completed four years of college.

Dental Admissions Test (DAT)

Take the DAT at least a year prior to seeking admission to dental school. This computerized test measures general academic ability, comprehension of scientific information and perceptual ability. Completion of at least one year of college level courses in biology and general and organic chemistry is recommended before taking the DAT.

Applying

Admissions committees review credentials such as academic qualifications, the results from the Dental Admissions Test (DAT), grade point average (GPA), letters of recommendation, personal interviews and dental office shadowing experiences. Admission requirements can vary from school to school.

Apply for admission at least a year in advance of the planned enrollment date. Most dental schools participate in the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS). But remember, it takes about a year from when you apply to actually get in because of the interview process! So you have to apply now to get into the fall 2008 cycle. (but if you do apply now, it's kind of late. The later you are, the less chances of getting in. And plus, the application process takes a loong time). Good luck.

That's not your problem.

Your problem is that you're new to COBOL, an horrifying language that forces you to do the programming equivalent of playing rugby while wearing a XII century armor. Or a crab costume. If you're new to programming, try learning Python, or C.

From what I remember, a FILLER is a datatype that's hardcoded to a fixed value, and whose only purpose is to format a record in a certain way, so it meets certain obscure requirements. A FILLER is a string of characters of a fixed size, and shouldn't be able to contain a null, for example.

It seems that you're trying to copy a record that, at the position in which you declared your FILLER, contains something else, and thus it's making your program crash.

A quick solution would be to just change the FILLER in your program with an alphanumeric string of the same size. That way, you can hopefully accept whatever is coming at the record.

Of course, I repeat, the real solution is to stop with that nonsense and learn another language. If, however, you're doing COBOL because a boss told you so, then... my condolences. You have a long way to go, as you deal with the still-growling skeletons of long-dead dinosaurs made of raw metal. You probably want to look for a programmer with COBOL experience, likely a senior programmer in his sixties...

He has worked non stop for the company since first coming as Kane. He hasnt missed any time off due to injury as far as I can remember. So right there is 10+years devotion to the company.

He has had stupid gimmicks in the company and always stayed in hopes to one day make it big Isaac Yankem DDS and Fake Diesel so he has put his time in.

He also puts over the young guys when he has to and he does what they want him to do without question.

I just found out I'm pregnant and I need a root canal done...?

DDS said I have an infection in one of my teeth and I need a root canal. Is it better to wait until the 2nd trimester or until after the baby's born? I also haven't been to a dentist for 3 years b/c of a phobia I have (even though I work for an orthodontist), so I don't know how long I've had this infection. Is it worse to have the infection or root canal when pregnant?

You cant get any type of drilling done while ur pregnant the only thing a dentist will do is cleaning. The reason u cant get root canals is because they would have to do xrays to see the problem more closely and everyone knows xrays are a no no while pregnant

I wanted to wait tell my baby was born but it got bad to the point I could not eat and cry at night because of the pain. I had it done when I was like 4 or 5 months. I felt a million times better and my baby girl is 8 months now and very healthy and happy.

P.S get it done asap the infection can speared if not treated.
Reply:Have the root Canal! I had to have one when I was first pregnant and it was not too bad.

I knew I had to have it a month before I got pregnant, but was trying to wait it out,and wouldnt you know,it got infected while I was pregnant and hurt so bad.Plus, I could not take anything for the pain! All they could do was finally give me a numbing shot as an emergency precaution.

Make sure they put two of those lead aprons on you to protect the baby while doing x-rays. Also, you probably dont need pain medication afterwards and i dont think they will give you any. I am the biggest wimp in the world %26amp; I was just extra tired after,but not really in pain.

The root canal is really not bad-really- a tooth ache has got to be the worst pain even!!! Dont risk it :o)

Also, although x-rays are taboo during preganancy, I had over 7 done while I was pregnant,and everything is fine-just make sure your dentist is on the ball %26amp; uses precautions- I guess since you work for an orthodontist, you already know that :o)

Reply:The infection would be worse, because it would spread. If you're really worried about the baby, call your ob/gyn and ask. That's the only good and safe way to answer this question.

But I'll bet they'll tell you to have the root canal and just tell your dentist you're pregnant. The local anesthesia they use is probably safe for your baby.

re security - yes it will work with linksys router, but the security is lacking on the DS - it supports WPA but not WPAPSK which linksys uses. Have u considered the DS Lite? Much smaller and more portable.

Look in the yellow pages for a specialty bra store. They will measure you for best fit and recommend a good bra...most of us just wear the wrong size, about 95% of us...and the right bra can even make you look smaller and slimmer and a lot more comfortable too. In time you may want to consider surgery, the weight can cause back and shoulder problems over time...a surgery such as this may be covered by your insurance. I wear a D but even I was told I was wearing the wrong type and size of bra..what a Huge difference!

Reply:I so totally relate to you. Have you tried Olga´s suddenly smooth, wacoal, rosi, bali. Those have more or less good support and are nice looking. The ones in the link provided do not earn points for looks, but will help, especially because they are tailor made to your size. I use them because they are comfortable and when you take them off you do not feel that awful sudden drop you get with other bras, this one makes you feel like you still have it on.

Seriously consider getting them reduced via surgery, in the long run it will avoid a number of problems, like furrows on your shoulder from wide straps having to hold up heavy breasts, trouble buying one piece articles of clothing, you know, if the top fits, the bottom won´t, etc. You are 16 now, think of how you will be when you have your baby and have to nurse. Large boobs sometimes are lacking in nipples that the baby can latch on to, the headaches, the backaches, the shoulder aches, you get tired of having men not being able to concentrate on your face...if you know what I mean.

It is not a question of vanity, it is a health issue. Many insurances will cover it, so really do consider it in the future.

I was a D in High School and am now a DDD. Exercise does help, to some extent, because 2 yrs ago I was a J cup...had to wear the "granny bras"....now I shop at Lane Bryant/Cacique. They have VERY nice styles, similar to Victoria's Secret, and no "spillage". Good Luck and hang in there!!

Possible breast reduction?

First of all, let me say that I don't have implants - my breasts are just natural DDs. I work in a predominetly male industry, and I appear on video podcasts a lot (I work for CNET reviewing technology). I feel that my breasts are the reason I've gotten so far so quickly. And no, I haven't slept with any of my bosses or anything, but during interviews I can always feel their eyes on my chest. In short, that makes me feel really self-conscious. Would getting a breast reduction to a C or maybe even large B cup be a good idea?

I had a reduction from DD - going into a DDD, down to a C cup. I am VERY happy that I am not carrying those huge boobs around. THey are quite annoying. Hoever, if you dcide to get a reduction, make sure you search for the best doctor. I have bad scars under my arms (just outside my breasts.). I had no idea the doctor would be cutting there. Just make sure you research him/her first.
Reply:If you massage your incisions and use Scarguard or Mederma they will be barely noticeable. It also depends on how good your surgeon is as well and how well you listen to his instructions. Report It

Reply:Before you do anything as drastic as surgery, try a few other remedies.

I'm well-endowed as well, and I've been self-conscious about my chest too. I have been wearing minimizer bras for a couple years and they work wonders! The bra I wear is a 38DD. I've tried Bali and Lillyette brand, but my fave is Wacoal. You can find them priced fairly reasonably on eBay-- and don't worry, sellers cannot sell used undergarments on eBay.

If you don't like the results of trying a different bra or trying a bit of weight loss, then visit your doctor. But when I consulted a doctor I was informed that my insurance would only fund the reduction surgery if I had a documented health issue which could be attributed to my breasts (like a back problem, etc.)

If you have health issues, then a reduction would benefit you and could be covered by your health insurance. I had my 38J's reduced to a 38C and got approved by my insurance without needing documentation (they only took pictures).

If you have no health issues, then only do it if you want to, because it would not be covered by your health insurance.

You could try wearing minimizer bras, which kind of squoosh your breasts. Get properly sized first at Nordstroms or Sears or JCPenney (not victoria secret as they do not size bigger women correctly).

MD+DDS are two different medical degrees; and the others could not do eachothers job.
Reply:A dentist might be able to do an anesthesia residency, but I am not sure. It used to be one track available to them. A dentist could get an MD, possibly with 3 years instead of 4. There are a few DMD-MD programs in the country.

The "scope" of dentists is techinically limited by the regulations of the state in which you practice, so I won't go into that except to say that most states permit you to practice within the scope of your education. This would actually come into question in a case where the dentist might overstep his bounds and winds up getting sued for practicing medicine without a (proper) license.

I do not understand your question about dentistry abroad, especially since I don't know where you are or what "abroad" means to you.

I know pharmacists fill presriptions %26amp; know about all the different medicines. I also know that MD's, DDS's, etc can give out prescriptions for medicines. Is it true that no Dr can give out medication without first checking with a pharmacist to make sure its OK to prescribe it to the patient? Is it true that a pharmacist can call a Dr %26amp; tell them the medicine they prescribed is the wrong one %26amp; tell the Dr what type must be given for the patient %26amp; that the Dr must listen? I'm asking because I was told that pharmcists go to school 2 years longer than Drs %26amp; that Drs can only prescribe what the pharmacist says to %26amp; ONLY pharmacists can decide what type of medicine one can recieve? Was told if a Dr give out a trial %26amp; one has any health problem or reaction with another med they can sue for the MD not checking with the pharmacist first? Is all this true?

Not sure where you got this information...but it's not right. Physicians write for medications after consultation and diagnosis of a patient. The pharmacist is the "watch dog"....making sure the proper medication is prescribed (Many medications may look or sound alike something else. Plus many physicians have handwriting that is hard to read.) and at the correct dose. If a pharmacist thinks something is amiss, they will consult with the physician. Also, depending on some prescription insurance plans, a pharmacist may make a suggestion of a therapeutic equivalent of a drug if the drug prescribed is not covered by the person's insurance plan.

As far as schooling goes, I believe a PharmD today is 6 years. Medical school is 4 years undergrad, followed by 3 years of medical school, followed by a residency program (3 years for pediatric residencies - not sure what it is exactly for other specialties).

A Pharmacist can refuse to fill a prescription for various reasons (suspected forgery, worry about the welfare of the patient, etc.) But the Pharmacist cannot tell a doctor which drugs they can or cannot write for. Pharmacists also do not go to school longer than doctors.

Pharmacists will call a doctor if they think that there is a mistake on a script (it happens, even to me.) The doctor will then usually fix the problem.

in certain hospital settings, pharmacies have been assigned the role of "double-checking" a physician's orders, so they may in fact call a doctor to change his medication order if there is a reason to do so (ie: overlooked allergy or medication interaction which the doctor didn't realize). sometimes the pharmacists will also try to substitute a cheaper alternative but if the doctor can justify why the patient needs the more expensive drug, they usually can get what they order.
Reply:When it comes to prescription, Doctors do the prescribing and Pharmacist do the filling of the prescription. A pharmacist cannot overide a doctor. A pharmacist may make a suggestion to a doctor if he/she suspects that the doctor made a mistake but eventually one needs to be a medical doctor in order to prescribe. Physician Assistants can also write some prescription but there is a limit to what medications they can prescribe. Medical doctors go to 4 years of Medical school, first two years are basic science education (includes anatomy, biochem, pharmacology, pathology, histology, microbiology, immunology, physiology, neuro, etc) and third and fourth years are clerkships i.e. rotations to different medical school affiliated hospitals for training in different fields like internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, family medicine, etc. After receiving MD, which includes passing USMLE step 1 (end of 2nd year) and USMLE step 2 (end of 3rd year), one goes to residency for speciality training. Residency training can range from 3 years for Family Pratice to 7 years for Neurosurgery. Most residency programs tend to be 4 years long. One needs to pass USMLE step 3 during the residency to be eligible to receive license to practice that particular speciality at the end of the residency. So by the time we are done, we usually have lost our hair and teeth and we are bankrupt. This is why a lot of doctors look like homeless people (Sorry can't resist making a joke :-))
Reply:Unfortunately, situations you describe occasionally happen. Ideally, the primary concern of both the MD and the pharmacist is the welfare of the patient, not who has the most power. A reputable physician will do his or her best to properly diagnose and prescribe. A reputable pharmacist will discuss any discrepancies with the prescribing physician before filling a prescription he or she questions, but yes, can refuse to fill a prescription he / she feels to be erroneous.

This is how I feel about them. I'm earning my MD degree right now, I'm a med student. PhD is something I would want to be someday, but there is a lot of work to be able to do that. DDS requires dental school and PharmD a degree in pharmacy, which are also very hard schools. PM and OD, are degrees that we in Europe don't have. As I can see, there is special schools in US and Canada for this medical fields. So, I wouldn't compare anything to medical school and I will rank them lower than MD. And about DO and DC. Those aren't real doctors. And they very often do more damage, so MD's must fix what they messed up.

Use the Batch processing tool (I think it's in the Edit menu somewhere). First record your copy or whatever you want to do to all pics, then stop the recording. Then use batch editor to locate your 2000 image folder and set it to what you just recorded. I have CS2, but I am almost positive you have it as well.

Overall, a dds is better than a dlong only because it is faster, has poison and has a very strong special attack. Yet, if attacking stronger monsters, it is best to keep both in inventory. First, attack using the dds's special, then switch to the d long for a few attacks, and then back to the dds. Against stronger monsters, you'll want the weapon with the stronger attk stats (which is the d long) and the dds as a back up.

The best weapon is the abyssal whip. I say this because:

1.) It is one of the faster weapons on runescape.

2.) It is one-handed. So you are able to wield a shield or defender alongside it. This increases your defense stats and if you have a shield/defender with a str bonus (ie. obby shield or rune defender), you further the power of the already fast and strong whip. In addition, if you wield a rune defender with the whip, you get approximately a 23+ bonus to your slash (can't remember for sure, I'd have to look up). This bonus makes your slash almost as strong as the crush attack of Dharok's Great Axe. Imagine having that kind of power, and still having the attack speed of the whip:) This is currently how I fight during my slayer tasks. It is fast, strong and very effective.

just wondering if girls or boys are harder to raise i hear so many different opinions on the matter i no every child is different but i seem to hear alot that boys are wild little things while girls are more relaxed.

i have 2 dds and was thinking of trying for a ds people keep saying oh no there much different to little girls there into everything hard to handle ect so whats up with that my little girls get into anything and everything so any opinions on the matter would be great thanks.

The reason that youhear that ever child is different is because that's the truth. While you may hear from some people that little boys are more wilb and little girls more relaxed, let me assure you, there are also plenty of "relaxed" little boys and "wild" little girls out there, as well. The difficulties of raising a child don't depend on what gender the child is, they depend on the child themselves--the "whole package", so to speak.

Reply:I say girls are harder. I have 2 little girls (7 and 18 months.) Anytime anything happens it is tears and "you hurt my feelings". With my son... he just fights like a ninja. He is simple. Plus he is way more cuddly then my girls ever are. (I know, mamas boy!!!!!) But given the chance to have all boys.... HELL NO!!!!! I love my girls too. Boys are just harder to potty train.

AEGD is advanced education in general dentistry and GPR is general practise residency , these are two year courses for international students . do we get license to practise after we take this course or is it necessary to hold a DDS or DMD degree from a creditted university of USA?

You may not require to take but you have to take license examnination(s) in U.S in order to "do your work" in U.S.

However, in order to pass the exam, you may come to some university to study.

there is a witness to this assult. and charges have been filed. an employee has even stated how bad his temper is.. im not the only person who he got nasty with. A neighbor had a problem with him as well . ( didnt know this till after i was assulted ) . i need to find his past . Plus why he moved his pratice to a Diff town.. must be other problems he may be hiding.. i looked up his name in afew ADA web sites his name doesnt appear no his wifes she also is a DDS..i found his name in one site but no address its hidden. i know there are other complaints .. i just want to find them

As recommended by others, it sounds like you need a lawyer. There is no sense in trying to handle this yourself as you will not know the right avenues to follow and you will only end up frustrating yourself in the process. Any lawyer who will take your case will know exactly how to find out about past complaints, although they may bear no relevance in your case.

We are adults and should be able to handle problems like adults. Which is my next question: Did you speak with the doctor about the situation ? Did you ask him if he was having a bad day? Did you speak with the lady at the desk and tell her that maybe she should speak with the doctor, he does not seem well ? Did you continue to have your teeth done after the assult ?

We all seem to "run to sue" when someone else is having a bad day and we take a hit for it. I am sure that you can look back on your life and find several people that took a hit for you when you were not having a good day.

Why not do something different and send the doctor a card and some bakery or fruit. Showing love and understanding for one another works a lot better.

i would say go to canada incase you wanted to pratice in the states. the school last 4 years.
Reply:By "UG" I assume you mean Undergraduate.

There is no UG degree for dentistry here. Most dentist's get that in a science field.

That will get you a job as a dental assistant or laboratory technician at most.

If you wanted to be a dentist - that is usually 4 years of schooling after your Bachelor's (BS or BA) degree. The dental schools can give you a list of the courses you need to take before dental school.

As to recognizing the degree, it would be simpler to get your BS/BA in Canada. I would contact the dental school and ask them. Most dental schools have a program for foreign dentists. But a BS/BA is far easier to transfer than a DDS.

Yes, actually I remember all of them. Repo Man was Smash from Demolition before the Repo Man gimmick. Dr. Isaac Yankem DDS was the fake Diesel as well as Kane now. Papa Shango went on to become Kama Mustafa, Godfather, and the Goodfather. Also Mideon was once known as Phineas I. Godwinn when he first came to the WWE (at the time WWF).

I am a Junior in Highschool and i was thinking about becoming a dentist, orthodontist or specialize in cosmetic dentistry. I just need to know a couple of things:

1. I was wondering what are some of the best colleges that offer a pre-dental program.

2. Right now i am taking A.P. Physics and i want to know which course is better to take in my senior year A.P. Chemistry or A.P. Biology, which will help me prepare for courses i will be taking in college and for my career choice.

3. one last thing is that it will take me abotu 8 years to become a dentist, are their any schools that offer a special program that will shorten the time period before i can get a DDS.

What steps should i take ?
I'm a medical doctor, but the pre-medical and pre-dental pathways are very similar.

1. Pre-dental isn't really a college major. You want to look at colleges that have strong programs in the physical and life sciences. Biology, chemistry, physics, that sort of thing. You don't have to be a science major to go to Dental School (I was an English Major who went to Medical School), but you will have to take a lot of science classes, so good science departments are key, even if you major in Ancient Greek Literature. Specific colleges are hard to suggest because I have no idea where you are or where you want to go to college... there are literally hundreds of good programs around the country.

2. Either AP Bio or Chem will serve you just fine. You'll be taking both Bio and Chem as a pre-dental student. Take what you aren't as strong in... which should help you reinforce that area of weakness. Another stragegy is to take what you think you can get a better grade in, which can help in getting in to a better college. Most importantly, take what you enjoy and STUDY HARD. Master as much material in whatever you choose... you are so early in the process, that you can't make a wrong choice on a specific course, but now is the time to learn good study habits.

3. There are some schools that offer combined BS/MD degrees, but they generally don't shave much time off the path to being a doctor. I'm not as sure about Dentistry. But my best advice is to not worry about the time it takes. It goes REALLY fast, and you have decades in your future to practice dentistry. I took several years after my undergrad degree before I returned to medical school in my late 20's. That time really allowed me to mature, experience life, travel, etc. etc. Now, I'm a relatively new doctor, still young age-wise and FAR more street-smart and experienced than many of my collegues who went through the process at lightspeed.

Start taking your prerequisites for college now. You can get things like English, History, Speech, and Math done in night classes. By the time you graduate High school you will be ready for your second year of college. GOOD for you!!! You will truely make your parents proud!
Reply:1. Going to a big name college doesn't mean as much when applying to dental school as it does in other fields. Go to a good 4 year university that offers the required coursework to get into dental school. Dental school is expensive so I would suggest an inexpensive college if you can find one. State schools are great.

2. Both the chemistry and biology will be good for you so take the one you will enjoy most.

3. There are a few programs out there that can shave a year off the total time, but you really limit your "exploring" time in college in these programs. I believe New Jersey has a program like that. I loaded up on the classes and completed my bachelor's degree in 3 years so that saved me a year without being in a special program. ONLY do this if you can keep getting A's with such a heavy course load. No sense rushing through if it is going to be counterproductive.

Congratulations on setting goals for yourself and thinking ahead. Dentistry is a great profession. My advice to you would be to not try to rush things too much. Work hard and enjoy the ride. Good Luck!!!!

I just got the game and uploaded my old DDS file and started playing on normal mode. I'm just up to the first boss and wondering if I should restart on hard mode so that I can fight the optional boss "Satan".

Is hard mode insanely, control breaking, hard or is it just a bit more difficult. Normal seems pretty easy, haven't been at risk of dying so far

Will I think personally it was more difficult. I played in normal mode first and there was this boss called Abaddon. Talk about a run for you money if you don't level up Cielo this battle is freaking hard. His attitubes change and you can't see what they are, plus he'll eat one of your character and spit him back out after using Noxious Gas. It's just like other hard game levels the enemies are tougher and your weaker but, with the optional boss and when you hit an enemies weakness it's twice the damage but, other then that's about the only upside to the hard mode. So, basiclly what the heck might as well if your not to far into the game go for the hard mode, if you want something more challenging.

(sidenote: Hard mode makes it harder to escape, 3/10ths the chance of normal mode enemies hit you for 1.5 times more damage, enemies have a 1.5 times higher critical hit ratio, you hitting an enemie's weakness results in 2 times damage, and allows you to face an extra secret boss.)

I used to wear the tiny ones and would literally pour out of my shirt...Then I started wearing ones that would cover the entire breast, and they dont jiggle. Perhaps buying better quality bras,or changing the style you are buying?

The only way to get people to not look is to not dress like a hootchie and let your cleavage hang out.

The Time Capsule File System

Introduction

The goal is to put files in a format so that they may be preserved

indefinitely. To achieve this goal, the problems to be addressed are

actually very similar to the problems faced in designing the Internet:

In the Internet domain, the fundamental problem is how to communicate

information from place to place in a heterogeneous network environment. To

solve this problem, the Internet Protocol (IP) specifies some simple

abstractions (IP packets, IP addresses, etc.) that can be supported on

almost any network hardware between hosts running very different operating

systems.

In designing the Time Capsule File System (TCFS), the problem is how to

communicate information through -time-, rather than through space. This is

an even more heterogeneous environment than IP must cope with, as we can

only -guess- what kinds of equipment the people in the future will be

using. To solve this problem, TCFS specifies some simple abstractions that

we believe will be easy to support far into the future.

The basic abstraction is the Time Capsule File (TCF). A TCF is a sequence

of bytes that contains a file bundled together with all of the other

information relevant to that file, such as the file's name, creation date,

author, the machine it was "dumped" from, when it was dumped, etc. TCFs

also contain their own length and a checksum so that they make minimal

demands on the storage media they may have to inhabit during their journey

into the future.

Design Goals: * easy to recognize the parts of the format

* extensible when we wish to add new fields

TCFS resembles Unix "ar" and "tar" format -- except without the bugs.

You concatenate TCFs together to form time capsules.

Each TCF is a self-contained entity -- if a collection of TCFs are all

created at the same time to form an archive of a file system hierarchy,

each individual TCF contains all the information necessary to reconstruct

the context it was taken from.

We only assume that file systems of the future will be capable of storing

sequences of 8-bit bytes. We are biased towards systems that store

characters in those bytes using the ASCII encoding, but nothing depends on

the survival of ASCII. We are also biased towards English. (Future

digital historians will probably have to be familiar with ASCII and

English, even if they don't use it themselves.)

If you prepare a large time capsule (by writing a tape, for example), you

should include the most recent copy of this document. Including some

relevant source code (which?) would be good too. Rosetta stones for ASCII

and English should also be designed and included.

It is recommended that TCFs -not- be subjected to any form of

data compression without taking steps to insure that the decompression

algorithm will remain known. (Will future digital historians know the

format used by Unix's `compress' program?)

Hi I'm not a DDS but I am a Dental Assistant. We have a hygienist in our office who complains. She complains about a patient being 5 mins late, or 5 mins early. If she walks out for lunch a few mins late, she freaks. But too often, she leaves for lunch way before she's supposed to - making Dr. angry. If her patient doesn't show, she sits and reads or does crosswords, calls her mother, etc....why not take an x-ray for the patient with a toothache? I think the thing that bothers the DDS the most is not taking BW's or Pano if it's due. She wants to schedule another appt. to take x-rays......DO what?? Just take 'em while the patient is in the chair. It's not like it takes more than a few mins. Eh, anyway...At least you're doing something to try to better yourself. I commend you for that. Best of luck! I doubt its really "you" that upsets the DDS. It's probably the ones that don't do their jobs.

Help! I'm losing my beautiful Double D's breasts!

I began wearing a bra when I was in the third grade. They grew into DDs, full but never really firm or "perky". I have been overweight thoughout most of my life, but when I've lost weight my breast have always maintained their fullness . But now whenever I lost 5lbs or more, my breast begin to literally "deflate". Why is it happening? Please don't tell me it's part of the aging process because I've seen women older than I (48 yrs old) who can lose weight and maintain the fullness in their breast.

Just trying to resolve an unresolved health issue here. I have been to the DDS 3 times, been to the Doc 2 times. Thus far, DDS said if it's a tooth problem, she will need to redo the recent RC we did in Dec. Doc said it could be a virus my body is trying to fight off (went to doc on Tues with temp 99.1). When doc looks in my nose, she said I have some allergies. Here's what I want to know... can a sinus infection cause pain in my left jaw that radiates down to the bottom area and effects other teeth as well? Is that possible? And if it is, is there a specific antibiotic for that? Considering i've had 3 rounds of Amox so far that work when I use it and then these symptoms return after a month... maybe it's sinus infection only on the left side? I do feel some pressure up there. Any advice?

Reply:Well if it is a viral infection Amoxicillin, which is an antibiotic, will not help.

And yes, a sinus infection can cause inflammation and pain in the general area around your teeth and jaws. It could just be that it is a combination of allergies and any latent infection the root canal didn't clean it out. If you have a fever, though, the infection is bigger and your body's immune system is on the alert.

Another RC could help. Ask your doctor for some allergy medication, and if it's a viral infection you can try to wait it out.

How Do You Know If You Grind Your Teeth?

I have been emotionally and financially exausted. In and out of the dental office the past year. In Dec had a RC, took 2 rounds of antibiotics for that tooth. Was fine until recently. I have symptoms of recurring infection but show no signs of it on xray. My symptoms are only the throbbing pain. Tests by DDS who also has post grad in endodontics say that teeth respond as they should. My DDS and I are thinking I could be grinding. My upper back molar seems to ache up into my sinuses regularly and the tooth right under it throbs with cold exposure and aches regularly. I am getting a guard as soon as I can afford it.... but wondering, is there any test that can prove I am grinding or clinching too much??

How Do You Know If You Grind Your Teeth?
Try using a mouth gaurd at night! Here's how to make your own:

I bought a teeth whitning kit (from Wal-Mart) and used the top tooth try for my night gaurd and it really works!

Step 1 Brush and floss your teeth.

Step 2 Boil the water in a kettle and pour 300 ml into a large bowl or cup. Then eave to cool for a full five minutes or until the water reaches 70 degrees centigrade, which is around 160 degrees farenheit. But do be careful as boiling water can scald and is very hot. Try not to get the water too hot !

Step 3 Secure the white thin tray inside the coloured tray and whilst still holding the handle, submerge the combined trays into the water try to make sure the whole mouthpiece is submerged up to the handle. Then shake the trays to remove any air bubbles that may be present.

Step 4 - Slowly wave the mouth trays in the water until the handle becomes soft and flexible. You will notice a slight loss of shape as they collapse.

Step 5 Remove the trays from the water after about a minute and test for flexibility. The material should be soft enough to mould against your teeth. Use a finger to check. If not, resubmerge the trays in the water until flexible enough.

Step 6 Holding by the handle, insert the muth trays into your mouth making sure that your teeth are midway between the walls of the white tray.

Using your fingers, form the tray by pressing firmly against your front teeth first and then up towards your gums. Remove your fingers and try to suck the water out of the tray, while it is still in your mouth. This will make it conform to your teeth better. As the dental tray cools it will tighten over your teeth. At this stage you should bite lightly on the tray and loosen it off once without completely removing it.

Step 7 - Once the dental mouth tray has cooled in your mouth, which takes about 3 minutes simply remove the dental trays. Separate the white tray from the coloured tray. The white contoured tray is the custom fitting dental tray that will be used for home teeth whitening.

Step 8 If the mouthpieces extend too far over your gums it can be uncomfortable. Simply cut off any excess material with sharp scissors. Smooth over any sharp edges by reheating in warm water and applying finger pressure
Reply:Unless you are sharing a bed with someone who can hear you grinding your teeth at night, it's generally determined by the wear and tear on your molars.

Reply:well if your teeth or jaw hurts in the morning that is a sign that your mouth was clenched at night and you were probably grinding your teeth. But sometimes that does not happen. My dentist basically noticed I was grinding my teeth because he noticed my teeth's surface was somewhat grinded down and damaged. I don't think there is any other way to find out (besides what the above comments say). Just make sure you wear that guard every night. It is really uncomfortable in the beginning, but as I kept wearing it, I now can't sleep without it on.

Dentists.... Please Urgent. Need Help Bad.?

Ok, this might be confusing so I am going to try and explain in detail. I had a RC in Dec. My DDS does all my and my BF's RC's. They have all been fine. My DDS also has post grad deg in Endodontics. Since the RC, I have been in and out of her offc, trying to figure out where this pain is coming from. She is confident the RC is fine, but not sure why that area is hurting. The tooth behind the RC is also sens but doesn't show by tests or xrays it needs a RC. In my opinion, it is one of the two of those teeth. Just don't know if it's the tooth, or if it's me grinding. This sounds like you have the possibility of a cracked tooth. A simple test for this is to bit down on the area in question. Release. If the release was more painful than the bite, your tooth is cracked. I am not yet a dentist, but I will be soon! Hope this helped!

My DDS and I are a bit stomped but are thinking mostly it's grinding and clinching. However, I have an upper tooth that hurts into my sinuses. Here's the best description of what is going on. When air hits it, it sort of pinches right in the area where the old filling is and only hurts from that area up into my sinuses. The filling is on the corner of my upper 2nd molar. In that filling area, is also at times a tiny bump. DDS says no RC. I'm wondering if it's cracked right in that filling area, and that's causing a tiny infection in gum. Sens to cold but not hot. Dentists... What Do You Think... Unresolved Issue and Very Concerned?
To begin with, your DDS should have already taken Xrays to determine if you have recurrent decay he can't see visually or do you in fact have an abscess at the root of the tooth. Because you say that only one tooth is reacting and it's creating sinus discomfort it may be the tooth and then again it may actually be a sinus infection issue. Fractures in a tooth is often very difficult to see but can cause the symptoms you describe. The tiny bump tends to make me believe that you are dealing with an abscess. Abscesses often work their way up the side of a tooth and when they reach the surface that allows the gasses created by the abscess to escape. Abscess gas build up is what puts pressure on the tooth's nerve and causes pain. If no abscess is visible on the Xray, your next stop should be to see a ENT doctor. One other issue, an abscess can actually cause a tooth to slightly move out and that could cause the tooth to strike the opposing tooth quicker than the rest of the teeth occlude when chewing. That premature occlusion contact can also cause the tooth to be painful. Good luck and I wish you well.

I have been having teeth problems since October. I've had a root canal on a bottom molar. My upper molar above that tooth (directly above it), it has been bothering me off and on for a year. My DDS took xrays and said that there is a deep cavity there but not likely that it needs a root canal. We're trying to figure out what's going on. I'm going back next Fri for work. I'm trying to figure out if my tooth is cracked. Here's my symptoms: Only one side of the tooth feels sens if I tap on it. That side also has a filling on the corner. The pain does not throb, but aches into my sinuses and down my jaw. It is sens to cold. If I am biting down too hard at times it feels a little pressurized. I have been on antibiotics since Fri so not sure if they're working, or if it's just not an infection. DDS last Thur did not see infection in xray. Any advice out there is appreciated. It does sound like either you filling is cracked and needs to be replaced with a new restoration. Or the entire tooth is cracked. The doctor won't know til he takes out the entire filling that is in there now. Good luck
Reply:First, I would start with the easiest solution, remove the decay and get a new filling. If the doctor can't see an obvious crack, let it go for a while and see if the restoration and antibiotics can help. Sometimes a cracked tooth is very hard to see. Even x-rays don't always help. Take ALL the antibiotics, even if you start to feel better. Worst case scenario, you have to see an oral surgeon to evaluate the tooth. Maybe an extraction, but let your dentist try everything else first. I have had a very similar experience this month. I'm still waiting for my tooth to calm down after an old filling was replaced. Hang in there!
Reply:I suggest you continue the antibiotics because it does sound like a cracked tooth and it may only be a hairline fracture that can only be seen by xrays. Better to get it taken care of right away before it turns into a nasty absess and you wind up losing your tooth. Not fun!! Root canals by the way are not bad at all. Just takes a little longer than a filling.

Can't get 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround if I send audio to tv and then from tv to receiver?

I have a Comcast hdmi cable box. I hooked the box directly to the tv (Samsung) with a hdmi cable, and then hook the digital optical audio cable from tv to my Onkyo Surround receiver but couldn't get 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround. If I connect the audio from the cable box directly to the receiver via digital optical then I get 5.1 DDS. Anybody knows why? and is there a way to get 5.1 DDS using the first set up?

The Comcast Box is setup for Digital out.

Go into the menu, Then go to setup. Now to Audio

Here you'll find a setting for audio out.

You need to Highlight HDMI.

The audio will now follow the video down the HDMI cable.

This should fix your problem.
Reply:Some TVs need the optical output turned on, and set up to 5.1 surround sound. To be honest, it would be simpler just to use the later setup you mentioned.

They're worth more than $20. The Imperial Order and Harpie's Feather Duster are at least $10 each. I suggest you invest in a Scrye or Beckett price guide. Don't let anyone talk you into selling cards for less than 1/2 their value, even if they're banned. You have a fair number of promo cards and promos are always valuble. Scyre is the cheaper of the 2 guides, at about $5.99 and its a monthly magazine so the prices will be current. Also, it has strategy info and it covers all sorts of other games.

Dental implants - am I being overcharged?

I had to have an implant done. I paid the DDS who put in the implant just over $2000 and insurance paid $900. That brings total cost to about $3000. My general DDS is now charging $400 for tissue conditioning, $800 for the post and $800 for the crown. This seems a little much. Total price is now $5000 for one tooth (out of pocket approx. $3200)! I guess my question is "if we suppose an implant should cost around $3500, is this price before or after insurance payments?"

part of the price depends on your zip code. bigger cities have bigger prices. i usually tell patients to expect about $3000 out of posket mainly because insurance rarely covers implants. i'd say you didn't get the best deal but you were'nt unfairly charged.

DDS and DMD are the same thing. The only difference is which part of the country (or which country) you receive your dentist degree from. I believe DDS stands for Doctor of Dental Surgery and DMD is Doctor of Medical Dentistry, but they are the same thing.

Okay. so i have a georgia license that's suspended. in order to straighten it out, i have to take what georgia calls a dui and risk reduction program. problem is, i haven't lived in georgia for about 5 years, and as far as i can tell, alabama (where i live now) dosen't have a risk reduction program. i called the georgia dds and they were completely useless, rude, and generally made me want to jump off a building. i've called everywhere i can think of. i need to find an Alabama program thats accepted by the georgia dds as an acceptable substitute for the risk reduction program. my only other option is to move to georgia to take the 20 classes required. but here's the catch, i can't cause i don't have a license. this has completely crippled my life!! PLEASE HELP!!

GA cannot require you to move back to the state to finish a program only they offer. That would fall under "cruel and unusual punishment". Contact an attorney and have him speak for you in the matter. You will just get frustrated trying to do it on your own.

My tooth that my DDS and I have been trying to figure out what's wrong with it... it's ok until I get my blood pumping. It doesn't seem to show signs of needing a RC, and my DDS has a post grad degree in endodontics so she performs all the tests, and all my root canals. And all of them have been fine. We are also considering grinding and clinching... but could grinding and clinching cause the tooth to throb at times when my blood is pumping (me moving around alot) or when I drink cool liquids? Is that possible? Thanks for your help.

There are a couple of issues that could make your tooth throb, and gritting and grinding could certainly be one of them, Simple clinching, which some people do, could also explain the throbbing...If you are gritting, grinding or clinching, you have a stress issue and that can't be solved by any method other than professional counseling to find out what is causing the Stress...Stress comes from one of six areas, Money, Marriage, Health, Employment, Self Esteem and Sex...Makes no difference if your a child or an adult, if there is something going on in any of those areas, even if it's someone else who is actually involved, and your emotionally attached to them, you can Stress out......On the other hand, your description could indicate you have a Sinus issue. A sinus infection can cause pressures and that in turn places pressure on the nerve trunk, and that in turn can pressure a tooth nerve causing discomfort.....Now, back to the HBP (High Blood Pressure)...that can be a symptom of Stress, so reread what I said about Stress above and give it some serious consideration. Omg... Horrible Pain... Please Help! I'm in Pain!!!?

Ok, I am now in extensive pain and called my DDS so meet tomorrow. I was hesitant on doing that because the last 3 times I have been to see her, it was just sinuses. However, since lastnight, my bottom left molars have been slightly throbbing. But tonight after drinking hot tea....bad pain. It subsided after about 40 seconds and still lingers a little. I did the ice test on all the teeth and had a normal response in all but a RC tooth done in Dec. That one had no reaction at all. Then right after that I did the hot test by drinking hot tea and it barely touched them but instantly caused some serious pain. Took about 40 seconds to calm down. My DDS also has a post grad degree in Endodontics so I trust her work... so what are my possibilities here? Recent RC tooth gone bad? RC in the molar behind it? She just examined me 2 wks ago and said she was doubtful that molar needed a RC. Could it still be sinuses, even after drinking hot tea? A piece of food stuck? Can a Prof, pls tell me?

Usually antibiotic take about 4 days to really kick in and they usually want you to take them 7 to 10 days.Ouch i think it may be the tooth and a nerve in it and that sucks as they are sso damn painful.I would call tommorow and ask for some pain meds or something as that is too much pain to bare.. Going to DDS tomorrow and scared to death. I just want to know.... can a cavity give a faint, dull ach that lingers shortly... then stops the pulsing feeling and then there is just this odd dull ache? Not torturesome... just annoying. Not sensitive to hot, or cold, or tap or chewing. Just the worst after brushing and cold cereal. I can sleep at night, do everything I've been doing... but it's always there... that dull ache that concerns me. xrays from a year ago show a tiny cavity... dds is taking new ones tomorrow. The tooth has a filling in it now with a tiny piece missing. What could all this mean? Any professional advice... or simular situations out there? Thank you.

It sounds to me like the missing part of the filling has exposed some of the dentin (layer of tooth structure under the enamel) which would be much more sensitive.

Just a guess - I'd expect to get that filling replaced, and the tooth should calm down after a little while,
Reply:It could mean that since some of your filling is missing your tooth is exposed to the elements, and there is no enamal covering your tooth so it is sensitive to these things. OR on the other spectrum it could be dead root in the tooth. But they are ususally more painful, unless your just catching it early.

I have an upper right molar that has an old filling in it. After a bowl of cereal yesterday it started aching and has since ached but this is a very dull ache with an occasional slight increase. It's weird. Because I have had 5 root canals in my past, I know about the tests to determine root canal. However, these don't always work. My last apmt in Jan, DDS said all is well, no more RC's just fillings. Anyway, as of yesterday I don't know if that's true. So I performed the tests: Ice:nothing, Heat:nothing, Tap:nothing. I have a mirror tool so I looked at the tooth and the others around it. That tooth has a piece of filling missing, with some brownish stain, but I do not see dark decay. So what could this mean? I don't normally have sinus issues. This just started after eating cereal yesterday. Any professionals that can advise, I would really appreciate it. Calling DDS in the morning to get an exam. Thank you.

The missing piece and stain could be a cavity, and it could be all the way into the nerve. Definitely call the DDS, you could have an infection.
Reply:Good job calling the DDS in the morning. I have a hard time believing that you can do a good hot/cold test at home, since I am a dentist, and I don't think I could do it on myself at home. An indication of sinus involvement is if it hurts when you move your head up or down. Best to have the dentist look at it. Because either way, you will need to rule out tooth ache vs sinus involvement.

Tooth Gone Wild! Please Help!?

Ok, I am in horrible pain! I am going to DDS on Thursday but that is 6 days away (she's on vacation so no shortning it)!!!! I have been on Amoxicillin for 5 days now. I'm guessing it isn't working enough? Shouldn't 5 dys be enough! I have some Clyndomicin that I am suppose to start taking if the Amox doesn't work. Should I get relief if I start the Clyndomicin now? I am running out of time! The DDS can't treat me for a root canal if I am still infected correct? So I must be on an effective antibiotic correct? Please help! I'm taking advil too... but still throbbing. Should I start the Clyndomicin or is it possible the Amox is working and this is the best I'll get? If I am not allergic to PEN or AMOX, will it be safe for me to take Clyndomicin?

Antibiotics only kill bacterial infections.. you could need an anti inflammatory... and some serious pain relief like codeine...you could also be taking too many different antibiotics at once which may be neutralising each other... try taking one type only for 5 more days in conjunction with pain relief.

Guidance on impacted Wisdoms?

My DDS advised that my upper wisdoms are impacted and need to come out but I can wait to have them out being military dependent this is important as we are relocating in late spring. I have two questions. First, if I wait and they flare up or get infected what should I be experiencing or watching for? Second, I have panic attacks when my mouth or throat is either numb or swells (thanks to a bout with mono where my throat nearly closed shut) As a result i'm considering having just one removed at a time as it's more manageable as far as level of panic and swelling. DDS also prefers working only one quadrant at a time. Is this a big deal, is it easier that way?

With wisdom teeth, it is not necessary to remove them if they are not causing you any pain. If your old enough (25 years or more), your teeth are settled and not moving or shifting due to developmental growth and teeth coming in. If they are not bothering you, do not take them out. If they are bothering you, or he highly suggest for you to do it, go to a specialist that can take them all out in one visit when you are "a sleep", under general anesthesia. They would have the proper equipment in case you have a panic attack and you do not have to hear, smell, FEEL anything they are doing.
Reply:If your wisdoms are impacted, they're still in your bone and would only get infected if there was deep decay in them. They may cause some irritation if they start moving. With your panic attacks, it sounds like it might be best for you to have your DDS refer you to an oral surgeon where they can administer anesthesia so you'll be asleep during the procedure and when you wake up it's all over.

Why suffer twice. As far as the pain its not that bad i had 4 fully impacted wisdom teeth had them out in the am and ate taco bell that night

Virus That Lasts 6 mths or Longer?

Just curious if anyone has had a virus that has lasted 6 mths or longer. I've been to my DDS and MD several times in the past 6 mths for a unresolved concern. My gland was a bit swollen, sens., the back of my tongue feels sore and tingly, as well as my left tonsil is a bit bigger then the other. Doc said I have no infection that she can see, DDS says I have no infection that she can see. Doc said probably a virus body is trying to fight off... but 6 mths of it? This ache in the back of my tongue only comes on after I've been up for a while and using my chords, throat, etc. I'm really getting worried now and as soon as I can afford it I am going in for blood tests. Anyone experienced this themselves? Thanks for your help.

I've not had the symptoms that you've had, but I had doctors keep telling me I had a virus when they didn't know what was wrong with me or didnt' want to test further to find out. I pressed further, and found out I had a chronic health condition that is most certainly NOT a virus but an autoimune problem, similar to lupus.
Reply:Like what the first person answered. You could possibly have an autoimmune disorder. When you're able to, get blood tests. Such as a complete blood count (cbc), get your thyroid levels checked, Maybe you should also get checked for sjogren's syndrome (your eye doctor should be able to test for this), also get an HIV test to rule that out, maybe a lyme disease test (they can order a BAT test for that). I'm basically suggesting anything and everything I can think of just so you have a better chance of finding out what's going on. If they can't find anything, maybe you could have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome. Sometimes a sore tongue can be a sign of fibromyalgia and also sjogren's syndrome I think.

Dentists... This is Urgent and I Need Help Please...?

Ok, this might be confusing so I am going to try and explain in detail. I had a RC in Dec. My DDS does all my and my BF's RC's. They have all been fine. My DDS also has post grad deg in Endodontics. Since the RC, I have been in and out of her offc, trying to figure out where this pain is coming from. She is confident the RC is fine, but not sure why that area is hurting. The tooth behind the RC is also sens but doesn't show by tests or xrays it needs a RC. In my opinion, it is one of the two of those teeth. Just don't know if it's the tooth, or if it's me grinding. So before I pull both these teeth, I need help here. Please help me out with these questions. Thanks. 1. If a tooth has an abcess, will the tooth still be sens to cold or will it not? 2. If the tooth has a RC, and I am grinding, won't it take a long time for the bone to heal considering? 3. What are the keys to determining a previous RC has gone bad? 4. What are the keys to determining a new RC on a tooth with a cavity only?

Ever since Dec I have been in and out of pain and my dds has been confident that her tests are proving that she is diagnosing correctly. She has said that there is a possibility that the tooth behind the root canal she did is a probably root canal... but very unlikely. In xrays there seems to be no abcess but I had symptoms of abcess i.e.; throbbing, sensitivity, etc. So here's where I am at now. I went back to dds yesterday. She did tests again. Said the rc tooth responds normal, and the one behind it seems to respond normal. However I noticed today when I took a frozen pea to the teeth the one behind the RC slightly throbs for a little while after. About 20 seconds or so... and if I bend down sometimes it barely does it. What I am thinking is that the tooth behind the RC needs a RC and it is effecting that entire area. Is it possible however it may not need a RC and just has a deep cavity? Xray says it's possible but not likely. And...

Even though you are not showing an abcess on the xray, your symptoms point towards you needing a root canal.

I see this all the time, especially if the tooth in front of it already had one, it is quite possible that there was some residual infection from the tooth that was treated to infect the tooth behind. I would say you need to have a root canal, especially if you have a deep cavity, I would suggest that your dentist go in and remove the decay in the tooth and see if it is into the pulp, if so then you need a root canal, if not, then maybe they can put a medicated filling in it to see if it simmers down, if not then you know you need to root canal.

Good luck and remember, if it becomes sensitive to hot, then you most certainly need a root canal, an infected nerve responds to hot temp as well as cold.
Reply:OK...Here's what you should do....Go to an Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist) for an evaluation. You may need a referral from your dentist.
Reply:For any problems to show up on an xray, that means that the problem has been there for quite awhile (aka chronic). just becuase the xray doesn't show signs of needing a root canal doesn't mean it doesn't need to be done (aka acute). Testing (probing depths, percussian, mobility, occlusion, hot/cold, bute) is conducted to better ascertain what the cause of the pain may be.

When does your pain occur? Does your pain only occur when you're biting down? If that's the case, the cause could be as simple as high occlusion, to something more serious like a tooth fracture. If you're pain is random, and occurs with no stimulating factors, then a root canal is indicated. If it's just to hot/cold sensitivity, you may want to start using a tooth desensitizer like sensodyne, and see if that helps any. It could just be dentinal sensitivity.

I went to my dds 2 wks ago, and she determined that there was no problem with my front teeth or previous root canals. I get an exam once a year now. I went in because my upper right side was bothering me, just like your tooth starts to before it needs a root canal. Pulsating, aching, sensitive to cold. DDS was sure it was sinuses. Anyway, that went away within a few days. As of about a week ago, my front tooth that had a root canal in it last year, it started bothering me as well. It's been a week now and not any better. Don't think any worse but not any better. It isn't a horrible pain at all. Just a slight ache and when my blood pumps a bit much, it will just barely pulsate. Just enough for me to take notice. Now, I was just in 2 wks ago and all was well. I could see the xray and that the canal was cleared through. Only other thing would be if it cracked... or sinuses. I'm not in pain, the cold sensitivity doesn't linger at all. Can a dentist or professional please help! Thank you!

To be very honest, no dentist (even the best one in the world) would be able to give you a clear answer without seeing your xrays in front of him/her, and taking a look at your chart and how the previous canal therapy was done.

Best advice is to see your local dentist about this issue.

What does it take to get into dental school? to become a dentist?

I am at the beginning stages of researching dental school. I am already an Electrical Engineer, but realized (maybe a little late) that I'd prefer to be in one of the health branches. Dentistry seems pretty cool to me. It offers not only the opportunity of helping people (though as a patient it is sometimes hard to see) but also being able to be a business owner.

Anyway, regarding the pre-reqs, I can find out at ADA and the different schools what classes I am missing %26amp; go thru a post-bac to get the pre-reqs. One question is: Do Dental Schools accept Community/Junior College credits?

Now, since I am close to 30years old, and considering a career change, will I be at a disadvantage over other candidates that have always tailored their education towards dental school?

Besides good pre-reqs, dat scores, what else does it take to get into dental school? Once in dental school what does it take to become a dds?

Last, anyone know engineers that have become dds??

Sort of! I have a have a BSE but went straight to dental school without working as an engineer. Dental schools will accept the pre-reqs from CC. Also dentistry likes taking unique students, so it may help you. Once in dental school, it will be 4 years, the first 2 years are preparatory and the last 2 years are clinical (more or less.) Just don't get conned into going to NYU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a certain DDS extracted a tooth from my girlfriend and was not kind or considerate in the manner in which he performed it. She shook uncontrollably for about 10 min after she came out of his office. I'm wanting to pursue this but not sure how to continue. I need to find out if this DDS has a prior history of mistreating patients.

Reply:Unfortunately, being rude or inconsiderate (short of harassment or battery) is not negligence, and unless he did something demonstrably unprofessional there probably isn't much you can do.

Of course, if this is his normal manner, and unless he's the only dentist in town he may soon find himself without patients!

No one wants to be treated rudely. Sometimes a direct approach is best--write a letter of complaint to the dentist. Everyone has a bad day now and then, and while this is no excuse you may get information that may make his behavior easier to understand.

You might also write a letter to the local dental society (if he is a member), and they may have someone intervene. Many local dental societies maintain what is called a "peer review committee" and if parties submit to it they can sometimes bring action against the dentist.

It is possible I am wrong and something in the interaction with the dentist is actionable, but I would need more information about just what happened to know that.

Reply:You can also check with your state's board of education, since that's where the dentist's license is from. Any formal complaints/lawsuits, etc. are public knowledge... and will be found on that site.

Note, though: the shaking could have been from the epi used in the anesthetic, but it shouldn't affect his chairside manner...

Unpolished amalgam filling. How often is this done?.?

DDS recently gave me an amalgam filling, but didn't polish. I only found out after going home. It was done on a posterior tooth.

How often does this happen? was it a gross oversight of the dds? are there any cons to having unpolished amalgam filling?

Unpolished amalgam filling. How often is this done?.?
Polishing is done at the following appointment because the filling takes at least an hour to set. It does NOT create a problem with mercury exposure! The mercury is bound as an inorganic intermetallic compound, and is not absorbed by your body.

An unpolished amalgam can leave you with a metallic taste as the outer surface reacts with saliva and other fillings in the mouth as it builds up a corrosion layer. This is not harmful.

Also, sometimes the unpolished amalgam will create a galvanic reaction with polished amalgams or other metals e.g. aluminium foil, with the saliva acting as an electrolyte to give you a zap!

If you don't have a following appointment and want it polished, then call the receptionist and I'm sure she'll arrange a quick polish.
Reply:Amalgam fillings are rarely polished these days as the act of polishing will release some mercury vapours and we don't want that. Amalgam takes a while to set after being placed unlike the white composite material that is more often used today, and I believe the polishing of amalgam fillings used to be done at a second appointment or at a hygiene appointment. White fillings, however, are polished at the time they are placed after being light cured.

Just trying to resolve an unresolved health issue here. I have been to the DDS 3 times, been to the Doc 2 times. Thus far, DDS said if it's a tooth problem, she will need to redo the recent RC we did in Dec. Doc said it could be a virus my body is trying to fight off (went to doc on Tues with temp 99.1). When doc looks in my nose, she said I have some allergies. Here's what I want to know... can a sinus infection cause pain in my left jaw that radiates down to the bottom area and effects other teeth as well? Is that possible? And if it is, is there a specific antibiotic for that? Considering i've had 3 rounds of Amox so far that work when I use it and then these symptoms return after a month... maybe it's sinus infection only on the left side? I do feel some pressure up there. Any advice?

Sure, a sinus infection can certainly cause the teeth to hurt all over the top of the mouth, and in the jawline. In the ER we call it "long teeth syndrome", because thats a common description of the feeling. People say their front teeth hurt and feel like they grew. It has to do with how the teeth and face are wired together, and there are a lot of wires in that small area, believe me. If you have a chronic, low grade sinus infection, one that will cause pressure on the sinus in the cheek below the eye- you could certainly experience refered pain in the left jaw and molars, yes. There isn't a specific antibiotic, no- it's a matter of controlling the infection, by drying up the sinuses or getting them to drain. If you have an allergy, then treating that would help. Since this has become a chronic problem, it may take several months of treating the sinus trouble to get it to permanently go away and relieve the tooth problem. Although, drying the sinuses should offer dental relief within a week or so- to allow full healing, treatment would have to continue a while longer. You need to find out what is triggering the sinus trouble first. That may be something like mold or mildew in your home, a dirty filter in the heating/ac system, carpets, and the like. Clean those out well, use an antiallergen spray in the house like crazy, and treat the sinus in the meantime. My sympathies- I had sinus troubles due to mold in our old home, that also caused chronic tooth pain. Once we moved (couldn't erradicate all the mold- landlord was NO help), the sinus trouble went away and so did the tooth pain. Good luck.
